Exercise is only part of what you need to do to get good abs. Diet is the other part. It means little if you have good abs but no one can seem is you've covered them in fat.

Having said that, I do 5 sets of 25 reps of crunchies (or reverse crunchies) every other day. Doing weighted exercises like deadlift will also greatly help you in your quest for good abs.

as the good ole saying goes "abs are made in the kitchen", in other words you can crunch until the cows come home, but if you have a layer of fat covering them you will not have a "six pack".

yes you need to train and develop your abs, but if you want them to be lean you need to focus on a proper cutting diet.

Start crunching now and don't stop until you see a cow.

Indeed. However, in terms of training, you should train with weights. Weighted ab exercise will help increase the mass of your rectus abdominus muscles, making it so they are visible at higher bodyfat levels, and more clearly visible at low bodyfat levels.

In addition to weighted ab work, you should consider heavily compound exercises that require intense stabilization via the core muscles: squats, deadlifts, good mornings, etc.
