I suggest you check out Duncan Donut's journal. He's the premier HIT guy 'round these parts.
Just curious, who here does HIT?
HIT as in, the training protocol, not just training like a madman i'm talking here.
Just curious if you could list your split and set breakdown. And any twerks and perks you've added in yourself (additional principles, like drop-sets, partials, rest-pause etc...)
Not a huge post (unless you feel it's justified), i'm just curious.
I'll also expect that you like it and/or have seen good results from it if you're gonna take the time out to reply to me here.
Thanks folks.

Oh right! Thought you were calling him Duncan Donuts as a piss take. Didn't realise it was his handle.
I take it from the speed of your responses that you have a rather decent Internet connection.

Starpower cable. Plus I can type fairly quickly. However, Starpower is awesome: 5mbit down/800kbit up.Originally Posted by The_Chicken_Daddy

I do HIT and will probably do it until I stop working out...it's been wonderful for my athletic progress. I am also intrigued by some of Dr. Dardens NTF (not to failure) gap-bridges in terms of stimulating the muscles that have been recovered while the central nervous system has not.
I disagree with Mentzers stance on training frequency (once every 5 days), while I agree with the Darden advocation 3 days a week; however, I agree with Mentzer/Yates on doing split routines, while I disagree with the Darden/Jones contention of full body routines.
HIT is brief and hard when done as close to perfectly as one can achieve...a very good system.

Ducan, don't wanna sound arrogant, but i don't have time to read through 7 pages of your journal lol, so can you briefly outline your split with set/exercise count please mate? Much appreciated if so.Originally Posted by Duncans Donuts

Hitting one bodypart at a time, once every 5-7 days, with sufficient intensity is one of the best ways to increase muscle-mass, in my opinion.
The reason why (many) people do not find this successful is because they simply do not train with sufficient intensity (despite what they believe).
The more intensley you train, the less volume you will need. Personally, I train more intensly (most of the time) than 99% of people who lift. And I need about 8-12 sets per BP.

Closegrip bench press (DC style - two rest pause super sets)
Weighted chinup (once positive failure is achieved, forced negatives)
Deadlifts
Good AMs
Military press (DC style again)
Upright rows
Barbell curls
Skull crushers (superset dips)
Dips
Squats (superset leg extensions)
Leg extensions
Calf-raises
Weighted situps
One off day a week:
Forearm Curls
Reverse Forearm Curls
Hang Cleans
The routine has allowed me to reach excellent strength levels for football (which is my goal).

so true but most people just don't get it...it kills me when people say that they train at 100% intensity with maximum working loads and are still doing 3-4 working sets...Originally Posted by Twin Peak

I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.
I just started doing this after not lifting weights for 4 months to save my time. I'm taking it easy but doing one warmup set and then one working set for each muscle group 2x per week, one for upper body and one for lower. I'm hesitant to go to total failure at this point because I'm working back into training but I'm keeping the intensity high and feeling good things after workouts.
Takes me about 20 minutes per workout - which is really nice. I'm more concerned with maintaining my strength than making major gains. Gains would be a bonus.
Today I can do what others will not so that tomorrow I will do what others cannot.
The difference between winners and losers is that winners do things that losers don't want to do.
Gains won't be a bonus, they should be expected..

Let me be the first to tell you guys how well it worked for Duncan. I have seen with my own eyes a complete transformation of his body. He has, by far surpassed anyone else's level in the small time he has used HIT than anyone I have every known.
This is why I have switched to HIT format for the IM Olympia.
"Show me a beautiful woman, and I'll show you a guy tired of screwing her"
Well, this week I am down to about 4 sets for larger bodyparts and 3 for smaller ones, but each set is extended by some form of intensity technique.
LOL, "tiny."
