In a period of about 3 days, and a gym change, I lost a shytload of strength. Getting used to new equipment and a new enviroment can sometimes be a beach.

I moved off to Uni a couple of months ago, same story... lost strength on most major lifts (bench in particular, the bar is a lot thicker at this gym and the bench is crap - you have to like do a pull-over just to get it over your chest its weird shyt), also the f'in dumbells have the weirdest grips ever!! the bars are kinda like thicker in the middle and then narrow at the sides, maybe if you have MASSIVE hands you'd be okay, but i wear gloves in the gym and these dumbells do not grip well at all

getting used to it a bit more now though, plus the honeyz at this gym! dayummm!!

i feel ya man same shit here, the worst thing it was a small gym and it was so embaressing becasue i just looked like a retard i swear, but a part of it was because i was kinda sick and i missed out on music and shit... i dont know about you guys but i have like a whole ritual before i go to the gym like driving the same road always....well i gues i made the best of it by calling it a "shock" day so its all good

That is crappy, totally unsafe. That is one reason I get as far under the bar as I can and still make the lift without hitting anything.

Now you have me worried. I think I'm going to join my friends gym tomorrow. It's getting to the point where a squat rack is an absolutel necessity, and various other equipment is certainly useful. I hope I don't notice a decrease in strength...

Why'd you switch gyms? No more steriod users to tattle on?

Shouldn't put down ones physique on a bb forum. Give constructive criticism or don't say anything.

Agreed.

Isnt it ironic.. the ones that always talk big, are the ones without pics of themselves.

I just worked out at the gym for the first time today. I have gone to Bally's once before with a friend, but it's a whole different story to go alone. The only differences I noticed were increases in the weight I could move.

On the negative side of things, two different people that spotted me didn't know what the Hell they were doing. They were huge too. I assumed, stupidly, that the largest guys in the gym would at least know how to spot properly. They both helped me before I got stuck! I was so pissed. Next time someone spots me I am going to give them a briefing on how to spot first. Now, the first time I am confident I had the lift. The second time I don't think I would've had it, but it is definitely questionable. Either way, learn how to spot dammit!
