Comments on having a Workout Parnter??
Hey, I've been working out for a while - and on and off I've had workout partners .. I think that they are GREAT!!! My last workout partner - just moved away - and I'm finding it Real hard to find another one.. maybe working out at 6:00 AM isn't the easiest thing for others to commit to .. Oh well - I think workout partners are GREAT but hard to find! anyone else have this problem???

I prefer to train alone. No chit chat, move fast, stay focused.

A good workout partner can be worth his weight in gold, and on the flip side some are plain old useless.
If you can find one with similar goals, strength levels, and desire they are a great asset. If they sart to miss sessions, talk too much,or are always late, drop `em like a hot potato. |

I lost my fav training partner; he moved away and I really feel kinda of lost without him. The intensity of my workouts have really gone downhill. To be honest with you though, I would rather workout alone than with some complaining slacker who is never on time. I good training partner that you work well with can make every workout a killer workout. |

For years I trained alone, tried a few female training partners and every one of them sucked!!! There are a few female IMers who I think it would be awesome to train with.

I now train alone which merans my motivation and intensity must come from within but I miss a good spot and the encouragement from a partner but it`s not a biggie for me.

IAB and I go to the gym together - but we don't really "workout" together. I'll spot him and he'll spot me but we're not always even in the same room.
I guess that counts We try not to let each other cop out of going. |

Male workout partner = good
Female workout partner = bad (when you start sleeping together). Whoops. ![]() |

My motivation comes from within, plus I found that unless a partner has the exact same training goals as you, one of you is going to find your training and progress being compromised.

workout partners are great only if they are as dedicated to training as you are. I'm a pretty nice guy in general i'd like to think, but in the gym i will start yellin at you if you don't move and i'll make fun of you if you're not pushing yourself so even the more thick skinned friends of mine don't like to lift with me.

My partner started slacking, so I dropped him recently. Since he's my neighbor, I see him quite a bit anyway. He’s been nagging to lift with me again. He’s feeling weak now I guess. He came over last night and seemed to be a lot more focused. I guess dropping someone who’s slacking is a good thing for both parties.

For me a training partner is either awesome or just unproductive. Either we ush each other to new limits and to absolute failure, or we just end up talking and not getting in much of a workout. I usually like to workout alone though, because its much more fullfilling when im the only one in the weight room and just me and the weights.

I've settled into doing it alone. Tried partners but none have maintained the motivation or intensity or the willingness to learn proper form and do the difficult exercises, also it becomes difficult to coordinate schedules.

i used to have a workout partner. It was ok since we were both dedicated. However, he liked to do 1.5-2 hour workouts, including 15 set bicep workouts, so i had to wait for that fool. I went to a better gym, when mine closed and he went to some hole in the ground gym. Now its just me and my mp3 player

i recently had to drop my workout partner... he's got a new girlie in his life and isn't focused at all with working out. We also have different goals (i want to bulk, he's trying to just cut fat). I guess it worked out better in the end. I'm enjoying working out alone... No BS'n, just a focused workout.

My workout partner is huge; just watching him push the weight around makes me want to train harder. We do about the same weights on leg days; but he just destroys me on bench, curls, flyes. We push each other like crazy though--just reminding each other of the shows we want to do, and WIN!
