Just start cutting and have some questions

Hi every body,

I just started cutting. I am willing to do three days weights and three days cardio. Is that Ok? And if yes, can I hit chest and back in the same day? Should I do them superset or not? Also, how many times should I hit my abs every week? I plan to hit it three times a week? Is that enough?

Thanks,

when i first started, and it was a cut , I did:

upper body
cardio
lower body and abs
cardio
upper body
cardio
rest
lower body and abs
etc etc

I lost 24 lbs of fat in 12 weeks

So in answer to your question yes. and super sets would be fine but I did not use them then. I do some now in my current workouts . I think a cut is more about diet than what split or workout you do.

I'm no PT and I don't study the science behind it all so this is just my experience and .02 .

Three days of weight and three days of cardio is great. The most common splits are push (chest, shoulders, triceps), pull (back, biceps), legs; the antagonistic approach: chest & biceps, back & triceps, legs & shoulders; or a full body routine. Any of the three is effective. Choose your weapon of choice.

I would limit supersetting to only occasional use. Also, if you do it, then you must drastically reduce your volume. If you want to do HIT style lifting, then supersets, rest-pause, dropsets, and other shock techniques can be used on a regular basis. Just make sure the volume is very low.

Hitting the abs three times per week is fine, just make sure you adjust your volume accordingly. Don't do 20 sets three times per week. If you train your abs with weights, then this is unecessary. I used to train my abs all the time, but the results can't compare to when I began doing weighted ab work on a less frequent basis. As well, if you are doing heavily compound exercises, then your abs do a lot of work just to stabilize your body during the lift.
