Newbie first post need some help

Hey just found the site and it has lots of great info so I joined. I'm 23 years old and I'm just getting back into the gym after 5 years off and sitting behind a desk(I know not a good thing ). Well needless to say I've gained about 50lbs and want to get back into shape. I worked out all through high school as I played football and life wasn't so demanding. I'm still pretty muscular but the definition is all but gone. So here is my question when I was working out in high school I ate all the time to bulk up and I did heavy weight, with low reps. I now need to loose weight but tone up? What is the best way to go about this? I'm currently doing two hours of cardio(one in the morning and one in the evening) and weight training 3-4days a week with low weight and high reps. Should I be doing anything different? Oh yeah I'm also eating healty now as well.

TIA

thats a lot of cardio. i would look into hitt cardio. do a search, there is a lot of info on it. you should also post your diet in the diet forum just to see how "healthy" it is for fat loss. good luck and welcome.

Losing fat, and therefore toning, is all about what you eat. Check out the diet and nutrition section. As well, I don't feel you need to do that much cardio. It seems excessive. 3-5 times a week is plenty.

Thanks guys, I'm sorry I don't do weekends as I take that time to relax and go fishing most weekends. I will post in the dieting section as to what I'm eating now instead of the fast food I have eaten for the past 5 years.
