    It's important
"in the howling bleeding nights, the dogs plunge into the Volga and swim desperately to gain the other bank. The nights of Stalingrad are a terror for them. Animals flee this hell; the hardest stones cannot bear it for long; only men endure."

of course it's important but i certainly don't obsess over it... my set point is 10-12% and that allows me to "gain" or "cut" a bit easier... but it is extremely important to know how much LBM you have to maintain and how much fat you are carrying when you are focusing on one or the other ("gain" or "cut")...

There seems to be evidence (from my reading) that 6-10% bodyfat is best for male health long term. Dan Duchaine FWIW believed 6% was the best target to live at, which sounds a bit low to me but I am not naturally lean at all.

There is one person doing a self experiment on ultra low calories extending lifespan. I think most of the issue is unhealthy eating in bulk, not just caloric consumption, but much of this is still mystery.

Larger animals typically live shorter lives, muscular or fat. Myostatin mice lived half as long as regular mice, for example.

Respiration rate also plays a role due to oxidative damage to the brain etc, giant tortoise resting heart rate of 30bpm lives ~200 years.

Can anyone post a picture of a non-bodybuilder who you would think would have a body fat percentage in the 12-14 range. This kid I used to be freinds with used to be about 250 pounds back in middle school, and since going on the atkins diet in sixth grade has lost a little less than 95 pounds. With that being said, he now wrestles and got a bodyfat test and he said his bodyfat was 13%, a figure that I don't believe whatsoever.

It would definitly be helpful to see what some person in the 12-14 range would look like so I could compare what my freind looks like.

    Thanks.
