    Lunge issue

I do lunges as part of my legs WO...After 6 killer sets of squats, and 3 sets of good mornings....For some reason, my right side is fine, I can hold 40 lbs dumbells and still lunge....But when the left leg is doing the work, I cant even hold any weight, I must do it weightless...My balance is aweful in that position and I feel the pain/stretch in my hams instead of mostly in the quads area....

Any idea on how I can fix and improve this???

    THANX!

I got a similar thing on my last leg day.
I was doing Leg Extension > Lunge supersets and found on the lunges that I got an uncomfortable stretch (almost strain) in my hammies. My hamstrings are quite flexible however and I did warm up properly.

I tend to think lunges hit the hamstrings and hip adductors as much as the quads, because they all stretch out under the load.

As for the balance thing, I think it takes time you have to work up to it. Bear in mind that after squats and GM's your legs are propbably pretty shakey.
What this means is that when we drop a ball and it falls to the ground, it wasn't the ball that moved (down to the ground), but the ground that moved (up to the ball)

Lunges are a bit of a balancing act. But they are primarily an exercise for Hams (and glutes). If you want to primarily hit your quads, do squats or even better do legpresses.

I do!! I mean, the lunges always come after squats etc...My concern is the huge difference between what I can do with the righ side compared to the left....40 lbs dumbells for right leg lunges but cant even hold a water bottle to do the left side....Im wondering how I can bring the left leg up to par.

Geez, after 6 killer sets of squats, good AMs, it's no wonder you can't do as much on lunges..you're probably having trouble standing up if you're really doing "killer" sets..
