    Alternative to Cardio

I'm interested in coming up with some sort of exercise routine that will act as an alternative to cardio in the traditional sense. That is, continually performing the same act until fatigue sets in. This includes HIIT style cardio.

I was thinking more along the lines of some type of circuit training combined with plyometrics. However, I do want to reap the same benefits. As well, I would like the impact on my strength training to be no greater than that of HIIT cardio. I still plan on doing HIIT cardio sometimes, but I want something different too. Here's some random outline I made in my head:

    Jump squats
    Clap push ups
    Alternating Leg Bounds

Rest for a minute or so

    Bodyweight squats
    Pushups
    Bicycle Crunches
    Pullups

Rest for a minute or so

    Suicides

The first section is plyometrics, the second is muscular endurance exercises, and the third is basically just some sprinting. Thoughts, comments, ideas, questions, etc.?

How about throwing in some short intervals of skipping?
Today I can do what others will not so that tomorrow I will do what others cannot.

The difference between winners and losers is that winners do things that losers don't want to do.

Yeah, I was thinking of skipping too. I'll probably alternate that into my plyometrics portion of the routine. Thanks for the suggestion.

That's the idea. We'll see if I can get through it without losing my breakfast, especially considering I'm taking everything to near-failure. I'm going to do it in about 10 minutes. Hehe.

Good luck with those suicides. They made us do suicides as the first drill in hockey for a reason!

I used to do shit like this every sunday with a friend of mine that was a college soccer player. We'd go to the park and do suicides, speed drills, bear crawls all those jumps and BW plyo's and such. I was fun. really brutal. 10min. will be good. he used to make me stick with it for a half hour.

I wish i had a video camera to take to the gym, cause I could show you this workout this girl at my gym does. It is an hour straight of box jumps/sprints/pushups/lunges/and everything. She goes thru it with no breaks. I don't even think i could hang with it

Wow, that's intense. Hopefully I will reach that point one day.

30 minutes of what I did today would kill me. Of course, I went to failure on everything before proceeding to the next item.
