excessive sweating

Is this a bad thing? I read somewhere that excessive sweating is due to a higher, healthier fitness level. This would make sense, since i really started sweating excessively in the last two years, when gaining about 90 lbs. muscle. i think im in pretty good shape, playing varsity basketball, but i sweat terribly during practice and at games.

is there anyway to reduce sweating. someone told me to drink more water? doesnt make much sense. any other tips?

It's healthy. I believe if you're dehydrated you WILL sweat more. So yes, drink more water for that reason, as well as many others.

btw 90lbs of muscle in 2 years?

If you're out of shape, the sweating should recede somewhat as your weights goes down. Otherwise, it's just a hereditary thing, no big deal.

90 pounds in two years? Did you get Ronnie Coleman's muscle surgically attached to your skeleton, or what?

I am the sweatiest person you will ever meet. If the temparature outside, or the room I'm in, is above 70-75 degrees, then I will sweat if I do much more than sit and stare. I have always been this way, and my level of conditioning has had no effect. I have soaked entire pairs of cargo shorts from a 30 minute jog. I have come to the conclusion that I am genetically prone to sweating like a pig.

I sweat a lot too, especially in sports and weight training (squats and deadlifts make me sweat like a pig). I'v heard this is a healthy thing, Arnold and Ronnie also sweats a lot
I believe it also has something to do with genetics.

If you sweat a lot, PLEASE carry a small towel around the gym. It annoys the hell out of me when some dude sweats all over a bench then walks away without wiping it down.
