Hey Guys, im new to the forum and I've searched for similar posts but I cant find any. I've been benching for about six months now and the center of of chest wont grow. Upper and lower do fine, but I cant seem to target my center chest. Is it my technique? If anyone has tips please help. Here's a pic of what im talking about here

You cant target your inner pec.. The pectoral grows as a whole. So you will just have to keep working at it, and add more size overall.

Sorry to say, but this is true. Genetics determine the shape of one's muscle.

Well your abdominal area is made up of a whole series of abdominal muscles, each individual muscle grows as a whole, but it's possible to focus on the upper or lower part of the series. Your chest, however, is basically a unit that grows as a whole.

If you are referring to the "six pack" (Rectus abdominus), then you are wrong. The rectus abdominus is one muscle. You cannot target portions of this muscles.

Think about what you are saying. If you had of said, "my friend wanted to target the middle two muscles of his six pack and it worked. You should see him, it looks like he has a couple of huge tumors in his gut". Now that remark would have been relavent to the question.

    Not this again

It figures that the one time I don't add "I don't have too much experience so correct me if I'm wrong", I'm wrong! Sheesh...

I would recomnd doing flys either on a machine or free weights I like the machine better because I feel the burn in my inner chest better and less in my shoulders. Do middle reps(about 8-10) with as much weight you can do and still keep good form. Thats my two cents.
    Bench 205, 225 by June
    Squat 456, 550
    Clean 225, 245
    Dead 355, 405

YOU CANT WORK JUST ONE PART OF THE CHEST. IT CONTRACTS AS A WHOLE.

ssc, the reason you dont feel it in the shoulders is because the anterior deltoid has a large role in bench pressing, even moreso in incline pressing, but not near as much while doing flyes
    cutting sucks.
