    My Bowed Out Abs!!!!!!!!!!!

This may seem like a stupid question to some of you , but I'm gonna ask it any way!!

The problem I have is my abs, alright I know I'm carrying a bit of fat over them at the moment but it is shifting, but, even if you sucked the fat off of them I wouldn't have a flat stomach!!! Doeas anybody know what I mean or am I just a freak!!!!!!

    cheers

As you work your abs, they'll tighten up a bit and consequently get flatter.

You might be surprised how much this would change if you lost that layer of fat.

Sounds like you need to work more on training the transverse abdominus through some core training, the transverse acts like a corset.
A lot of ab exercises like crunches focus on the rectus abdominus which doesn't have much effect on flattening your stomach.

So you're saying bench, squats, deads etc will make my abs flat, while crunches will make them more defined?????????

Abdominals are muscles, they are supposed to have the appearance of being large and defined. Unfortunately the definition will only come when you drop the fat.

i'm not too wooried about definition at the moment. I will start a cutting cycle come January. Do you get fat behind your abs? My A&P is pretty good, I know you get "internal" fat around the organs, but there is not alot of space behind the abs, what with the large intestine and all that??

    Any thoughts!!??

It sounds to me like you might have an over-arched lower back. I used to be skinny too, but even then I had a hanging gut because of my posture. It is most likely a correctable condition. The link below will get you started. Hope this helps. Peace

What Britchick is trying to say that the transversus abdominis are what tapers your stomach in giving you a flat stomach look. This is your core and if it is that bowed out than you need to focus on some specific core training such as planks, superman, reverse crunch, bridges etc. A weak core is not a good thing. Squats and deads will help but IMO specific core training is a must. Of course until the bodyfat is down you won't see any of it.
