    ab workout

Has anyone heard of an ab exercise that involves a slow standing punching motion using light weights (5-8 lbs.)?

I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

I've never heard of anything like that (but I'm also not very experienced). I'd say to just give it a try... what bad can it do?

Sounds like it would make sense. You use your abs a lot when going through with punching movements, especially alternating left to right. I can't see my self frequently doing that for my abs though. My goal of doing something like that would to make my punchs more powerful not my abs.

That exercise seems to work my delts more than anything else... You're arms will give out long before your abs will... sometimes I do that at the end of a delt workout.

Maybe your delts give out first because you just did a delt workout (?).

Seems like I had read this in a magazine and I couldn't remember if there was any truth to it or not. I don't believe it would be very effective.

Odds are if you read it in a magazine it isn't true.

Of course if you extend your arms with a load your abdominals have to provide support. But there are far more effective ways to target the abs.
