    Deadlifts: How far to push it

    So I was doing deadlifts today, and thought to myself, oh what the hell why not try 455. So I tried it, and got it, and it wasn't extremly hard. But, I was afraid to go any heavier, for fear of hurting my spine/back.

    So my question is, how far can you push it? Just because you can get a weight, can you then add 20, 30, 40 LB's without fear?

    it depends. only you really know how heavy you can go.
    I can get 405x13, 455x8, 505x3, but i hesitate about jumping up to 600.

    if you can get a few reps with 455 "no problem", then go ahead and add on some more weight.....you really gotta be the judge.

    Well... It is LITE WEIGHT after all... I'm pretty sure of my form being decent. I rarely do high reps even if I can get the weight many more times.

    How are you going to progress if you don't increase the resistance? Progressive resistance is of prime importance. Just take it gradually if you are worried about form.
    The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...
