I never use to have a training partner because I live in a small town where nobody is serious about lifting. However, recently I found a great guy to lift with who's totally serious about it and knows his stuff. He just moved to my town from 1,500 miles away so he was happy to find a guy like me who enjoys lifting. I invited him over to lift with me and he's been coming over every day. He never has excuses, he always shows up, and he doesn't screw around in the gym.

I never liked working out with a partner because most guys slow me down since they merely stand around talking and not really lifting. It's hard to stay motivated when your training partner is screwing around, you know? I'm glad this guy I have coming over is just as serious as me and knows every exercise. I don't have to teach him anything because he already knows. He use to be a pro wrestler or something.

Anyway, long story short, I hate working out with another person unless they're just as dedicated as I am. People like that are hard to come by where I live, so I never bothered to train with anyone until recently. Now that I'm training with a person who's motivated I really enjoy it because we feed off each other's energy.

I can't work out around women. Too much of a distraction.

    Nope.

I like going at my own pace. I like not getting distracted. and no one has the intensity i do.

only downfall is having to ask for a spot on a bench. oh well, it's worth not having a partner.

I WO at home and do not need a training partner. Infact I just do not like the distraction of a training partner (or a gym for that matter). Unless I want to WO at midnite or some ungodly hour, the gyms in my area are full of folks who occupy space and get in the way. Not serious about their exercising or health. They just socialize. I do that at work..

I use to have a training partner back in the day until he got offered a job in another state and moved away. That sucked because he was the only guy I've met who could keep up with me and we'd totally compete with each other in the gym. Our own male egos would push us to lift more and more.

As I said, if you find the right person to lift with, it's totally worth it. However, finding that person is like finding a needle in a hay stack because most people are lazy assholes.

I dont have a partner and prefer to train alone. Why? because less preassure to get to the gym at a specific time without waiting or making someone wait. In addition total freedom with my routine. And best of all, no blabbing while lifting!

I have my own kick-ass gym in my basement with everything needed to get huge so I don't have to worry about regular gym hours and working around my partner's availibility. If I had to go to a normal gym I'd probably hate having a training partner because it'd be a huge hassle waiting for him to show up and stuff.

I work out with my wife. Well, we work out at the same time, but we usually do our own thing. We'll spot each other when needed though.

Hey, that's really cool. Wish my wife was serious about working out. It'd be awesome to have that kind of relationship where she could come to lift with me. You're a lucky man!

Actually, it kind of pisses me off because she packs on muscle so frikkin easily.

No, it's very cool that she takes working out so seriously.

Since I started this not too long ago, I'm still trying to find the right routine for me (which I may have just found, actually), so it's hard to have a partner. My dad has been getting involved lately, though, and I like having someone I know really well to work out with. I can talk to him about it whenever I feel like it, plus we can spot each other and make sure we're using the right form. He doesn't get why I jump from different routines all the time, but I don't get why you'd want to spend time doing something you hate. Oh well, I basically make up the routines anyways so he'll just have to get used to it . I still listen to music a little bit when I work out with him, and my concentration may be a bit less though. So I think I'll do them separately and then show my dad how to do them later in the day, unless I need a spotter.

I know the feeling. You should see my wife! She's a model and has a body to die for, yet she never works out and eats at McDonalds, Wendy's, or Taco Bell every day. She doesn't gain an ounce! Instead she looks muscular and completely fit. It's not right, I tell ya'!

I workout with my sister, we push one another and it's refreshing to have another female I know closely be so into working out.....If either one of us were slack asses our gym relationship would not work out

I lift alone. I would train with P-funk if he lived closer, he is a freak.

I would work out alone...but I need a ride to the gym due to "unforeseeable circumstances." But yeah, I definitely would like to work out alone, except for the occasional need for a bench spot.

I trained with one guy for 1 1/2 yrs then for a few different reasons i started training buy myself, i felt trhe intensity lift to a new level..... why....???
Cause i didn't have to worry about him for a change, i could finally focus on what i was doin.....

So with my new T/P i don't worry about what he's liftin, i just worry about my w8's and he does what i do or he trains alone I do like having a partner though cause i like forced reps

Me and my current training partner

    No, I do not because;
    1. No one i know ever wants to go
    2. On the occasion they do, they dont stay long
    3. Or, they cant keep up, and i have to change weights every set

I would lift with a partner if i could find someone that could lift close to the same, would stay consistent, and would stay long enough for a good w/o.

I think its good to have a spotter/helper for heavy weights so you can give it everything you have got, and to be safe.

I got a training partner and after busting his ass into shape, we push each other like crazy. It's always nice to have somewhere there reminding you that if you don't get that last rep up, you're going to get your wig split at the next show you're preparing for. Plus, forced reps are awesome.

And my training partner is a beast... so I always feel like I'm trying to play catch up to him which is great motivation =)

ive always worked out with a partner! you have to they are there to push you farther then you can really go and to slap you in the face while your lifting to get you pissed to get that weight up just one more time. me and my partner go crazy when working out together we go nuts and i assume that it helps us i couldnt amagine trying to lift without someone there to spot me so i can do more and more weight. but thats just me i guess im lucky to have friends that love to lift as much as i do.!!!!!!

Most of the time I don't just because I don't know anyone that goes to my gym. I have friends that lift at one of my friends house and I went with them yesterday, but I don't know. The equipment is different than what I'm used to and they don't have a squat rack, and only 1 bench so it's kind of weird with 4 of us working out there. I wish I could have someone to spot me on benching so I could push myself.

I have in the past, but I don't currently. Few people can lift on the schedule I have to, and I don't like altering my routine to compromise with someone else. I have specific goals right now, and I don't really know anyone who shares the same goals.

I work out alone, at home. I have a hiking partner that also lifts and we encourage each other, but we haven't been able to arrange our schedules so we can lift together. (She also trains at home.) Sometimes...I can get my hubby to spot for me. But he gets so cranky about it that I've decided to just keep adding equipment to my home gym.

I workout with a partner. I say the number one reason is for spotting. The second is for safety. When I do workout alone I usually don't go real, real heavy. I like him there 'just in case' with exercises like deadlift and bench press. There are times when my gym stays empty for hours and hours. It'd be just my luck I'd tear a muscle when I'm alone and have to crawl across the floor to get to the phone.
