I do believe he has stopped doing many lifts my friend. But at one point his lifts were quite high...after many years of training you just stop doing certain lifts that cause discomfort.

Yes but gopro isn't louie simmons...just liek there are kids that are 15 and benching 315...thats not me now is it!

After many years of lifting some people just choose to stop doing certain exercises b/c they don't like them or they no longer need them to maintain what they have. Now its more about spreading knowledge that showing off and breaking records I guess....understand where I'm getting at?

DB i think you got the first part right but powerlifting isn't about showing off or breaking records, I could say the same about bodybuilding and loading yourself up with anabolics and having distended stomachs and muscles filled with fluid, sarcoplasmic hypertrophy, rather then sarcomere hypertrophy where you have dense thick muscle...

anyway its all a matter of PREFERENCE and GOALS... if your goal is strength/power you always include free weight squats, deadlifts, and benching...its just staples to the desired outcome...bodybuilding is different...but i've seen that gopro said he had a 50" chest which is very big and i've seen that he has deadlifts in some of his routines so i am curious to know what he lifts, just out of curiosity...

This is all pretty comical! As was mentioned earlier by my friend DeadBolt I have pretty much stopped doing full deads, benches with a bar, and regular squats. I DO still do rack deads, dumbell benches, and hack squats.

The only lift of the three that I ever maxed on was the bench press, where at a bodyweight of 268 I hit 500 (5 plates and a 2.5 on each side to hit that magical #, LOL). When I DID deadlift and squat, I would pull over 500 for reps and squat no more than 465 for reps. However, even with perfect form I still found that these exercises would cause me injury AND that they were not optimal for ME in terms of muscle growth, so I dropped them.

Lifting really heavy weights was never a main focus for me, so I never really pushed myself in that area. I use the weights as tools for muscle growth, not to see how much I can push or pull. Even when I hit that max bench I was only doing it about once every three weeks.

very impressive lifts eric... and all that strength as a byproduct of your routine??? good stuff...if your main goal is hypertrophy you must compete in bodybuilding right, do you have any pictures of you posing

I can't say that all of those lifts were purely byproducts of P/RR/S, as I had been training for many years before ever conceiving of P/RR/S and had probably built the majority of my strength in my early years. P/RR/S allowed me to maximize it, but really, P/RR/S, in the way I use it, is mostly meant to maximize hypertrophy.

My last competiton was in 2000 or 2001, I forget actually, although in 2005 I hope to finally get back onstage. As far as pics go, someone once put one or two up somewhere on here of when I was a lightheavyweight at only 194 lbs or so.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain...
