Unable to train in the middle of a bulk...

ok, this really sux major ass!!
I have an issue with carpal tunnel syndrom (damn translation job!) but it seemed to have been under control (painless, except at night!) lately. I saw my doc yesterday and he recommended (actually ordered!)that I completely stop training (even legs as he says that my simple holding and lifting of the plates could be bad) for four weeks as I have apparently done some nerve damage that may be irreversible. I argued and bitched so he switched it to a complete week off and a follow up appointment next week!!

I had made some pretty serious gains during this bulk while only using crea.mono, whey and vitamins, on a 3000 cals/day diet. Im now affraid of loosing all this LBM, but also of gaining shitloads of fat if I keep this diet up while not training. Im wondering if I should even be doing cardio??

If this "prescription" goes for more than a week, Im gonna go insane....Any suggestions?

    thanx guys!

Is your doctor a sports med doc or a regular MD? Regular MD's in my experience know absolutely nothing about muscular injuries except to tell the person to stop what they are doing. I'd get a second opinion from a specialist or a doctor trained in sports medicine - preferably someone who lifts themselves.

The simple fact he first said 4 weeks off and then switched it to 1 week after you complained obviously means he's not sure what's going to happen.
Today I can do what others will not so that tomorrow I will do what others cannot.

The difference between winners and losers is that winners do things that losers don't want to do.

Hes a regular md, but I had seen a sports doc about 3 weeks ago for some tests and saw my reg doc for the results...Like I know that there's something wrong with my wrist coz I feel the pain after a day's work and I havent done any forearm specific training in quite some time because of it...After he said 4 weeks off, I almost cried(Im such a wuss) and he then agreed to have me do sweet fuck all as far as training is concerned, not even loading plates onto a leg press machine, for one week and wants to see me again then...Aby suggestions on the way to take my training or lack of if the verdict sticks?

Get the second opinion would be the first thing you should do. If you need to take a week if its not that big of a deal...a week off every few months is good for the body to rest and grow. Just lower your cals to maint. levels and eat that way for the week or so then up the cals once you get back to training. Or simply do cardio the week off.

you're not going to lose all the LBM you gained during a few weeks layoff...not IMHO. Further...do some light cardio if you're concerned about fat. At least cardio will keep you active during the layoff.

carpal tunnel is a bitch!!! the resons your doctor is telling you not to train at all is becasue he doesnt want you to use your hand at all i think. My dad had surgery on his left hand 7 months ago, it bothered him so bad that sometimes he couldnt sleep at night. Good luck to you, but you can only make it worse by puting more stress on you..

LOLOL, unfortunately (or fortunately for most!), my fighting with someone could get me in serious trouble as I have been training in martial arts since 1997! Its the only "activity" I kept at even when I weighed over 320!
For some reason, probably my size, crazy bitches tend to stay away....
