What's This Exercise Officially Called?
At the cable machine it's sort of the reverse of a Bi EZ Curl.
The EZ Curl bar is chest level, I use a underhand grip & I pull it Down till my arms are extended straight down. |

You would be extending your arm downwards not pulling, if this is a tricep movement. Are your arms at your sides when you begin, with a bent forearm? Or is your arm straight out?
Triceps are extensors, biceps are contractors. If you push, you are doing a "compound" movement. Some people actually do push when doing tricep cable pushdowns, but with an overhand grip. |

Right it's like a Tri push-down with an underhand grip & pulling downward.
The arms start @ a 90 degree angle (where a Bi-Curl would normally end). So "A Reverse Grip EZ Curl Tricep Pull-Down"?? Sound good to me...didn't know if it had a clever name like a Dave Draper Cable Pull Down or something! |

You might describe it as a PUSH but not a pull, you extend with triceps you dont contract.
Reverse grip press downs or push downs. Or supinated grip standing cable tricep extentions if you want to come up with some cockeyed fancy pants name for it. Reverse grip pushdowns is what I'd call it normally. Extention is a push, not a pull movement. |
