Question Working out with no spotter

    Hey all,
I work out in my basement. I usually do my bench presses inside my squat cage. i.e. move the bench in and use the back of the cage (with pegs to rest the bar weights on).
I'm hesitant to push myself to muscle failure cause if I can't get the bar back on the peg...the next resting spot is my neck. I want to push myself but have no spotter.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can push it but still be safe?
    Thanks

place the pins in the squat rack so you can dump the weight.

I don't train with anyone either. Haven't for a long time. just don't train to failure.

If I am alone an I WANT to go to failure, I train with Dumbbells. My odds of survival are much greater!

I WO alone and go to failure quite often. I use a cage as well. I use it like P-Funk described, with the cross bar (do not know what else to call it) set just at chest height for bench press (inclne, flat and decline). I also use it for shoulder presses and squats. I again set the cross member up at a height that is just past my lower ROM. I dump it there if I cannot finish the rep and set the bar back up on the pins between sets. (some times this means I have to pull some plates to reset the bar up on the pins, but that is part of the deal).

Just leave the clips off the end of the bar. If you get stuck, then tilt the bar to one side.
