cardio and legs

when I do legs (squats and leg curls) my legs will hurt for three or four days afterwards. Does anyone else have this problem and if so how do you do cardio after leg day. I do not know whether to just tough it out or wait till they do not hurt and do cardio. I still have body fat to lose and need to do cardio.

Yeah, I have the same problem.

After a hard leg day, my legs are shot for days.

I am a fat ass and really need the cardio, am also turning 40 this year so recovery is a bitch.

I'm think I will change to only do legs once a week for now while I try to drop a ton or two.

Trying to figure it out, I think that doing legs Monday morning then no cardio before Wednesday might help. Cardio Wednesday, friday and Saturday.
Or something like that

I did legs thursday night and my legs are still hurting. I try to do cardio three times a week but I usually only get in one or two because squats kill my legs for days. It is a good pain though .

Ok, here was the approach I took. I worked Legs on Fridays and kept Sat/Sun as my off (recovery) days. I worked Cardio into my routine Monday, Wednsday, and then a light cardio on Fridays after my leg workout (before DOMS set in).

Bottom line is... Leg Day sucks. Best way I found to deal with it was to schedule it so I had two days of total recovery prior to any cardio. Good Luck!

do you stretch after doing legs ?

I would do an hour of long duration low-intensity cardio the day after legs. I wouldn't do cardio after training legs, that's overkill. a 10-15 minute light warm-down is all you need to do then go stretch for 20 minutes...

My legs have been hurting quite a bit since I worked them out on tuesday, I've gone kind of easy on them, but I've still done a little cardio. They still hurt really bad on the back on my leg right below my calf and above my heel...

Well if you're new to doing this, then yeah it's gonna hurt like hell after a kickass workout. I remember the first day I did legs, I couldn't even stand up in school with having my legs straight at first. I'd have to stand there for seriously about 3 or 4 minutes before I could straighten my legs completely. It hurt like hell. But I knew I still had to do cardio. So just tough it out. Eventually your legs will be accustomed to that strain and even though you'll still have the normal lifting "pain" it'll just be normal. Just be consistent with it, and it should all work out.

Low intensity cardio the day following your leg workout would be beneficial. The more blood you get pumping to the muscles in need of recovery, the faster they can recover.
