Hit Dosn`t Work

I have trained using HIT for 2 years now and have just converted to volume after watching pumping iron on DVD , I tried all sorts of HIT workouts and kept to each for longer then 3 months always eating more calories and protien then i need, now 3 months ago i have started training 5 days a week doing 12 sets for large body parts and 9 sets for small body parts and i have now put on 8lbs of muscle and lost bodyfat (and yes my muscles now look more defined and and more like a bodybuilder, they used to look just bland even with a low bodyfat now they look almost aways pumped with striations) I anit taking any supplements and no steriods just i uped my calorie intake.

HIT does work to an extent I belive because you spend less time in the gym people with high metabolisims gain better from it then volume because they burn less calories throughout the week so the fibres they stimulate have the surplus calories to repair because so called hard gainers mostly have high metablisms so they dont realise that if they train using volume they have to eat huge amounts of food so they gain better on less volume eating what they think is enough, but if they were to use volume (and i know that my muscles feel twice as sore the next day doing 12 sets for quads as any HIT ball outs 1 set 20 rep squats superseted with 1 set of leg extensions do for me) and eat the amount of food they need they will grow better, I certainly am now, also i feel more switched on, happier and beacuse I dont push my muscles to death on each sets I belive injury is much less likely.

doing the same routine for 2 years straight?

ofcoarse youll see less gains. the body is an adaptation machine and you gotta switch it up so that it doesnt adapt so well to the style of training / work.

i use a combination of volume, 'HIT" and any other routine classification out there. I basically just wing it according to what my body seems to respond to. Simple as that.

You probably didn't perform your exercises with the utmost intensity. As well, if you also changed your diet and increased your caloric intake when you went to a higher volume routine, then that could easily explain your gains.

Many using HIT are going through the motions, thinking that few sets = easy. It's called high intensity for a reason; that's the whole point. Each set should be done with ridiculous intensity, with plenty of reps in the post-failure zone using techniques like rest-pause, forced reps, negatives, etc. No free rides; less than all-out isn't HIT IMO, and is just another way of skimping on workouts. Have some more potato chips.

Yeah, HIT doesn't work

This is a great thread title. You contradict the title in your second paragraph. Inflammatory rhetoric is fantastic.

"HIT doesn't work for me" would be the proper title.

or perhaps, "I didn't know what I was doing"

or "HIT does work to an extent I belive"

You know, it's one thing to disagree with the principles of a program, but to have a thread started by someone named Uzi (a machine gun recognized for it's high volume of fire) with a picture of HIT's greatest adversary in his avatar (Arnold) with the title of the thread as "HIT dosn't work" (despite the spelling, at least the punctuation was accurate) in which the author of said title DIRECTLY AND SPECIFICALLY CONTRADICTS THE TITLE HE CREATED, making one of the most inelegant and ineloquent arguments I've ever had the displeasure of reading, which featured 2 paragraphs composed of nearly 300 words and only two periods- well, to call this ridiculous would be an understatement. There was even a thread asking if you were for or against HIT as though the topic were on the same philosophical level of debating political philosophy (e.g. are you for or against Marxism?)

Give me a break..

Well duncan my knowledge of HIT out weighs yours and its not possible for any human to train harder then I do on that 1 very important set, so bulls to to any one thinking I dont train with HIT hard enough, also duncan my title "HIT dosnt work" like all great books or films is to grab peoples attention i arnt gonna write "HIT dosnt work as well as volume because people dont eat enough calories to compensate for the extra volume" am I . I have been dedicated to HIT for longer then you Duncan but now I dropped the SHIT oh i mean HIT its all plain sailing for me.

Dont be girlie men.

I think that's the funniest thing said in this thread so far. How do you know your knowledge outweighs DD's?

Because I know DD and find him extremely knowledgable. I've found very few actually intelligent posts from you. Just the fact that you claim to know more than DD gives insight to your ignorance. Not to mention the fact you can't spell to save your life and you need help from pumpster to come up with the original thought of "groupie". And no, there are no groupies. There are people who are right, and there are people who are wrong and blatantly ignorant. Guess which category you fall under.
