Aspirin

As stated in my journal, I have a minor ache/pain in the middle of my back, and I was wondering what some of you guys thought about taking a couple advils or tylenols to mask the pain so that I am able to deadlifts.

I am dieing to do them, spent about fifteen minutes searching for an answer and came up empty.

I had this pain the other day while I was doing power cleans, I just toughed it out and I feel fine now. (2 days ago).

I tried doing deadlifts my last leg day, and I only hurt it more.

first of all I would recommend Ibuprofin (i.e. Advil), secondly that is a terrible idea IMO. if there is pain that is your body telling you something, if you ignore that and mask the symptoms with drugs chances are you will eventually sustain an injury. rest your back, do not do deads or do them light if you think that is causing the pain. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!

Last week was my first doing various lifts like squats and power cleans, so of course I felt the burning in my legs, next day was cardio, but after that I needed to lift again so I did take some Advil since the burning was still there. That would be OK right? Burning is obviousily quite different than pain.

haha i think advil is good for your heart isnt it? maybe we should pop aspiriin before cardio

I wish I lived in Mexico there are some neat stuff for pain there.

I don´t like the idea of working out with pain, unless it is soreness.

Working through pain like that is not a good idea IMO. This is when people start doing conferences years later about how their working out screwed them up for life.

Agreed. Another good example is the athletes that you see that have had to quit playing becuase of an injury that they have masked with drugs, and played through. Stupid IMO.

It was more the regular deadlift movement that had hurt my back. I did some light SLDL's and all was well it seemed.
