Squats question
Is it better to do a bunch of squats in a row, or sets? Whenever I do them I do 3 sets of 8. Should I try doing like 3 sets of 17? Or possibly just keep going untill I cant take the burn in my legs??

Anything from 4-20 repetitions would be totally suitable if you are trying to gain mass. Legs often respond very well to higher repetitions. If you plan on doing multiple sets of squats, then I would stop a couple repetitions short of failure for each set.

My friend is trying some high volume program called super squats. He does 3 sets of each muscle group 3 times a week to failure. Not only that, but he think failure means that you have to squeeze out an extra 4 force reps after every set.
Anyways, the program calls for a set of squats in the begining weeks, where the rep range is between 20-30. |

super squats isn't high volume. It is high intenstiy training however. That program is so damn good. it will kick anyones ass. I stole a lot of ideas from the super squat book, especially when I was trianing total body 3 times a week. |

The way he is doing it just sounds like overtraining to me. He does tons of force reps after every set. |

One of the things i found fvcked up with the program:
He does three sets of heavy behind the neck presses with forced reps, and THEN does flat BB bench. Does that seem right to you? That would pre-exhuast you enough to have a very sub par benching day. Why not flat BB first??? |

As with any muscle group, I switch up my reps and sets each week to keep my muscles from getting used to the same sets. I may be perpetuating another weightroom myth, but I believe that you need to keep switching your reps/sets to keep progress steady.
