Body Proportions Enquiry
Hi, I'm Dan from London, UK. New to the forum. Been gym training for a few years now, though never excessively, and recently took measurements to view my progress.
For a guy of 6', medium build, broad shoulders and 42" chest I am curious to know what my ideal arm size should be. They are 14.5", so think they are not quite in proportion to my chest. Is 15.5" a good target to aim for? Btw, I weigh in about 182lbs. Cheers! ![]() |

well, Arnold was 6'1" and his "ideal" armsize was 22".
it all depends on your own personal body as well as goals. What i mean is, if you WANT huge arms, then that's your "ideal". If you just want them to be proportionate, then it depends on your bodyweight, bone structure, muscle shape, how big your other muscles are etc... |

Yeah you are right, everyone's different. Thing is I'm one of those ectomorph types that was naturally bony and lean until started weight training when I filled out a bit.
Mates in fitness circles have said 15" is good, but I went on a web site where you input your wrsit size (mine is 6.75") and it gave me targeted arm size of about 15.5" along with all the other body stats! How long ha\ve you been training, buddy? |

I've been training 7 years, almost 8.
15.5" arms, hmmmm.... I'm 6ft tall, and i have just under 17.5" arms, and to me, they look small. Granted i have big elbows and "not-good" biceps muscle shape (very good peak, but that's about it). If my arms were 15.5", i'd def. want them to be bigger, but that's just me. So basically it all depends on your goals, bro. I'm sure once you start hittin' the weights hard and gettin' big you'll want 20" arms as well |

I don't think I been training with the same kind of intensity over the years, it's only recently I thought I should bulk up my arms and been taking a protein supplement too.
17" would be very nice, but in the meantime I'm hoping by the summer I can get between 15 and 15.5" which will look ok given my fairly lean frame. Arms seem to grow 1/8" a month. Slow but steady there. I know doing a lot more bench press stuff would speed up my growth a bit. What chest size are you out of interest? |

Just remember your tri's make up 2/3 of your arm size, so keep those up to par, so to speak. So keep pumpin' and get those things BIG!
As far as my chest size, i have no idea. I don't know how to correctly measure my chest. But i do know that it's one of my best bp's |

Mine are 19.5 when pumped. Maybe 20 on a good day, but then again, I'm at like 18%-20% BF. I'm also 6'7, so they look small.
