Cardio after workout?

Does anyone do cardio after their workout? The reason I'm asking is because after talking to different people I feel like if I do a cardio workout after I lift that I am throwing my lift out of the window. Do any of you do cardio after you lift and still make good gains?

also depends on what kinda cardio ure doing.....If u do and hour of HIIT 5 times a week during bulking, you may find it hard to grow as much!

I will do low intenstiy cardio after large body parts for up to 30 minutes sometimes. when doing things such as HIIT or Max-OT cardio I save that for non-weight training days or after doing small body parts like the biceps or shoulders...

I never do more than 30 minutes of cardio. I'm not really bulking or cutting, I'm just pumping iron and trying to get rid of a lot of extra body fat. I've been working out off and on for the past year ( last three months very steady ). I was told on another forum that I should never do cardio on the same day I work out and if I do, I should space at least six hours between my workout and cardio. I do not have that much free time to run to the gym everyday or two times a day. I have seen great gains and I want to keep gaining while continuing to shed BF.

ya.. im in the same boat as mervin i guess.
i cant decide if i want to cut or bulk.. im 18, 6'0, an 165.. im a decent size kid with some BF and mostly muscle.
i kinda want to mix the cut and bulk stage together ( if thats possible)
would it be ok to lift every other day and run on the days i dont lift..

I prefer to do cardio on non-lifting days. However, doing cardiovascular exercise proceeding a resistance training routine is an effective way to boost fat loss.

Sounds like your after muscle mass, I recommend doing no cardio beacuse why eat all those calories just to burn them off?

Huh? Even if ure after mass, throwing in 20 minutes of moderate cardio work within the appropriate heart rate range will not only help keep fat at bay, but also improve cardio vascular capacities...Why not?

Because doing 12 sets for quads 9 sets for hams and 9 sets for calves gives you more of a cardio workout then poncing around on a bike for 20 mins.

No doubt, the intensity of that type of w/o has a cardio vascular impact to some extent...However, I doubt that you control or even care about your heart rate during those sets. Im talking about wanting to shed or avoid fat accumulation...
I also beleive that improving ur VO2 max means that you are improving the circulation of blood and oxygen to muscles which is always a good thing when bodybuilding...

but wudnt u want lean mass.. id much rather run and build lean mass so i wouldnt have to do mass and cut stages..when i see kids around me in their mass stage, they tend to get fat.. in theory, if you ran while being in a mass stage, wouldnt your muscle mass be lean instead of that flabbyness that accompanies you while in your mass stage.?

the greater your VO2 Max the more free fatty acids (FFA's) your body will burn at rest.

Because some people care about endurance too.

I am currently cutting so I do cardio when ever...workout days, non workout days, morning, mid noon, tea time, night. I get it in when ever I can but mostly its after my workouts b/c thats the only real time I can do it. I have become a cardio nut and love it now heh...don't ask me how.

I am a firm believer in cardio during a bulk...not alot but a little here and there is fine...its keeps you conditioned. For my job I need to maintain a certain cardio fitness level but for every joe shmoe...if you add on 30-40lbs and do no cardio once you need to start boy it sux lol....but if your into the rythm of doing it cardio becomes cake.

well put DB..

its much easier too maintain your conditioned body by running here and there during bulking stage than it is to try and run your bulky ass around the track with that 30-40 extra lbs. of weight with an unconditioned body.
