    Too packed up?

I've been benching and my chest got bigger and now suddenly it packed up and got hard. My max is only like 130 when it used to be 140. Should I add more weight or take some off?

How often do you bench? If it's more than twice a week, you are overtraining and not allowing your body to grow.

You lift your chest every day? Yea bud, overtraining. You should hit bodyparts 1-2 times a week max.

Try and get on a cycle where you're only working on a muscle group maybe MAX twice per week... If you get to the day on your cycle where the muscle group you're supposed to be lifting and it's still sore, don't lift it. Better safe then sorry (with an injury too...)

Its perfectly fine to lift while sore.. You do need 72hrs of rest inbetween though.

I beleive that if you reach failure most of the time during lifting, u should limit yourself to 1 session a week...to spare the CNS a bit.just MHO.

it's next to impossible for newbies to resistance training to overtrain. you can train a body part multiple times a week if you like. just don't neglect your legs.
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

When I work out, I work out my entire body; not just chest.

AZNracerx, the two links below are both excellent articles for someone in your position. Read them. There is also a lot of info in the diet and nutrition forum.

Many of us here work out anywhere from 4-6 days a week. But we only train 1-2 body parts per session. There is a lot for you to learn. A few key things about this forum:
    Read the stickies
Learn to use the search feature
Follow some good advice, especially from the moderators. If you look at the pictures gallery, you will see that most people around here have the build to back up what they say. These guys know what they are talking about. When I joined this forum I thought I had it all figured out. It didn't take long before I realized I had a lot to learn.
