    Rotator cuff injury

My baseball season is fast approaching and I'am trying to bulk up a bit. I went to see my doctor about a month ago and he informed me that I had a rotator cuff injury, and I'am getting a MRI next week to find out the full extent of the damage. Should I stop working on my arms and chest altogether?...or could I keep working out the same as I'am now?

I have a similar issue although I'm nearly recovered now. I stopped training chest and shoulder for over a month and only did very light rotator cuff exercises. In your situation I'd hold off until you get the results of your MRI and discuss with your doc.

I believe GWCotton went through this whole situation including the surgery. Give him a shout ... and good luck on your healing up. My right shoulder is a mess too but I just work through it and pretend it went away

I would avoid laterals bench press and any behind the neck movements until you find out what is going on....if it is a tear these things may worsen the condition.

if it is just a strain, some rotator cuff exercises should help....just make sure to try the most conservative means first before you go under the knife....unless it is a complese tear of the supraspinatus....then you really dont have much choice.
My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that I am right.

When one door closes another door opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the ones which open for us.

I would avoid anything that puts strain on your rotator cuffs. Bench pressing comes to mind as a movement to avoid. You may want to do some very light active recovery with your rotator cuffs. I'm not sure what exercises to do, as I'm not especially knowledgeable in the area of rehabilitation, but it is something you should look into.

Bump - and I would stop overhead movements as well...

Also - once you find out how bad it is get yourself to a sports doctor or physiotherapist. They can help you with specific moves which will strengthen your rotator cuff and prevent further injury.
