    question with sleep

There are nights where i just cannot go to sleep at a decent time... this impacts my recovery time... would napping that afternoon be additive to my past sleep... for example i slept for 6 hours one night and then i nap for 3 that after noon would that give me the same type of muscle recovery as 9 hours of sleep?

I remember reading something recently published by a MD, actually encouraging naps in the afternoon. Just like in Spain where you take a siesta ...Yes I think it would be the same, but on the other hand I also think the reason why you are having difficulty sleeping at night is because of the naps in the afternoon..

If you nap I'd suggest no more than 1 hour, or maybe 1:15. Beyond that I find destroys my desire to sleep at night at all. 45-60 IMO.

I find that if I do not drink enough water than I am also restless at night. Something about being semi-dehydrated making you restless.... I have no time for naps and as long as I hit my 1 - 1.5 gallons of water a day, I sleep like a baby.

    Just don't drink too much b4 bed........which I did last night .
Hard to sleep when it's > 86 deg anyway
What this means is that when we drop a ball and it falls to the ground, it wasn't the ball that moved (down to the ground), but the ground that moved (up to the ball)

    naps RULE! period

i often have to put up with a lot of restless nights due to my noizey halls and stupid druken flatmates, generally come the next afternoon i'll be feeling like a zombie... so i used to hit the sack for 45mins... but i'd wake up feeling still pretty tired if i was already short on my sleep and like others have said it is hard to sleep at night (i only nap for that long if i'm gonna be out partying the same evening), now i tend to just put my head down for about 15-20mins and it works great, when i get up i don't feel so tired but i'm still pretty 'with it' as i've not been sleeping for too long

i'd rather nap during the day and get a good 7 hours sleep, than sleep for 9-10 hours in one go, i find if i sleep too long i wake up starving! but if i throw in naps instead i can just keep eating every few hours, it definately works gd for me!
