    Barbell Bar

How much does the average Barbell that people use to bench press weigh? and another question...when measuring how much you are benching do you count the plates only or do you include the bar?

On average the bar weighs 45 pounds. Some as little as 42.5 and others as high as 47. Most if not all typically include the bar.

I'm gonna come off sounding a bit snide here, but please don't take offense, I don't mean to be. Whey benching, are you lifting the plates AND the bar, or are you just lifting the plates? Get my point?

an olympic bar (that you'd use for bench press.. squats.. deads..) weighs 20kg (45lb), a standard barbell weighs roughly 12.5kg (25lb)

Don't forget about the Texas strong bar that weights 100 pounds.
