Not sure, probably around 5-10 pounds.
Who cares though, just dont include it. Nobody does....

How much does the smith machine bar weigh? I can't find it on google and need to right down my weight for something on there.

Oh, I thought it was alot more, how come I bench so much less on a smith machine than regular bench?

it's individual, in the gym that i belong the smith is 30kg, but another gym that i worked the smith was 10kg.

The smith machine holds the bar in a groove so it is harder to move naturally finding tricky sticking points that you don't get with a free bar. Use a Free Barbell for pressing and incline pressing, you'll find the change alittle weird at first but that's just stabiliser muscles making up for the smith machine supporting bar and frame. They are kinda shit and you'll get better results for mass with a single free barbell pal.

yeah, the one at my local pit is 10kg. Never seen a 30kg smith bar though, fuck that.

it depends on the machine, if it is counterbalanced it probably weighs 15lbs, it should say somewhere on the machine.Originally Posted by ihateschoolmt

I disagree, the Smith is a great machine and has many uses.
My smith bar weighs 30 pounds.

it matters less how much the bar weighs, since it's on a pulley system thingy. there's resistance as you push it up that would add more weight to the actual bar. i treat smith's like any other machine. i realize the "weight" i'm using has no correlation to the weight i would use in a freeweight exercise. like a machine military press has any relation to bb military... yeah right.
they are not freeweights, but they have thier uses.
who cares what they weigh? if anyone asks you how much you smith bench, they are a weirdo.
Exactly! Never heard of anyone ask how much you Smith bench. Thats funny!
Hey Squanto... how much do you Smith bench dude? .... hahaha
