    Angry this pisses me off

    http://webcenter.health.webmd.netsca...e/86/99193.htm

read this and the part that pisses me off the most is when it says

"In the study, researchers found that watching TV images of muscular, shirtless men lifting weights and selling cologne and deodorant left men feeling depressed and unhappy with their own muscles.

Researchers say those feelings may make men more likely to engage in dangerous behaviors, such as using steroids or exercising excessively"

what tha fuck is dangerous but that if done right

just wanted to shared that with u guys

Most people do not want to put the effort into losing weight and feeling good about their self. Most of them just want a quick fix. When you set around all day and watch t.v they will not look like those people on tv. Takes hard work and dedication.

Why is everyone so angry about this? I think it brings up a valid point. Not anything people didn't already know, but nonetheless.

Also, just because you guys believe that steroid use is okay if used properly, doesn't make it a healthy practice.

There are plenty of researchers who have a good faith belief that steroids are bad...we can't hold that against them, can we? From some of the threads I've seen started on this very board from ignorant people plotting cycles, I have trouble disagreeing with them (steroid antagonists). While intelligence concurrent with AAS use is not necessarily bad, I would argue that ignorance with AAS use is a delicious recipe for disaster. I'd estimate (with no evidence, mind you) that 70 or 80 percent of people who try steroids either shouldn't (age) or have no clue what they're doing..

note: especially regarding the 'more is better' dictum of our society..
"in the howling bleeding nights, the dogs plunge into the Volga and swim desperately to gain the other bank. The nights of Stalingrad are a terror for them. Animals flee this hell; the hardest stones cannot bear it for long; only men endure."

I was in GNC the other day (hey, I needed stuff...don't judge me!) and a 50 yr old (give or take a decade) woman with thick leathery skin and a smokers tan comes up to the counter and, in a voice that sounded like barry white after gargling razors, asked "Do y'all sell that Trimspa?" Once she was gone (minus about $40) the guy working there had a discussion very similar to what you just said. (Hey, Anna Nicole was on TV, and she said it worked, so...)

But the way I figure it, whatever it takes to keep "those people" out of my gym is OK with me.

So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

The Bull (magazine) had a great article on why steroids are being attacked to vehemently. The theory is that all the pencil-necks are running our government. These are the same guys who were bullied in school by the bigger guys and now they wan revenge.

On a side note, I just weighed myself and came in at 224 lbs. I was excited and told my friends and family. With the exception of my sister, they all donned a slightly confused look and said, "That's good, right?".

Yeah, but if a similar study mentioned marijuana or cocaine instead of steroids, then no one here would have a problem with it. Guess what though? Virtually any drug on the face of the Earth can be used responsibly with minimal consequences. However, the average person who uses them is going to get into it without doing the necessary research. Therefore, they will be engaging in dangerous behaviors.

I understand why you don't like steroids being bastardized so heavily, when it is really ignorance about proper use of steroids that is the issue. The same goes for any drug though.

I think people are willing to do them without learning because they havent properly been scared yet.

Idea 1: Put a picture of the worst case of gyno ever on every bottle of any kind of steroids with the caption, "Take this and look like him!"

Idea 2: Now this may sound bad but, people aren't scared. So a group of high profile guys need to take one for the team and die. No one is going to just do it then if there was a mass death of celebs or something.

Actually, their point is that advertisements can lower your self-esteem by setting excessively high standards (Or so the viewer thinks) as to what one's body should look like. I do think it's silly to take steroids simply because you feel bad about the way you look due to a little excess fat, or whatever the case may be. Taking steroids is totally unecessary to achieve a more balanced physique.

Sorry, I'm just play devil's advocate here. It's kinda fun though, I must admit.

Next time you are out in public, take a quick look at most of the people you see around you. A lot of them could use a good blow to the self-esteem. They might actually stop shoving junk food in their pie hole and get off the couch for once.

In regards to the illicit drug use mentioned in this thread... Ive used/abused many recreational drugs....and anyone who has conviced themselves that they can control cocaine use is fooling themselves. marijuana is much easier to use without crossing the line into abuse. I dont really reccomend using any drugs recreationaly though, its just not worth it...

Sigh. Not to get into a drug debate here, but I know people that use cocaine only occasionally. Not everyone gets addicted. It is, however, one of the more addicting drugs out there. Although nicotine and alcohol are both more likely to get you hooked in the long run.

Well, for one, don't use it several times daily. Make sure you are getting 100% pure cocaine, and not something cut with random crap. Often times powdered drugs are less harmful or no more harmful than what they are cut with. Monitor your intake so you never exceed what is a "safe" threshold for your body. This may require blood analysis and such to determine, but there are ways.

Clear your mind. Wipe your head clear of the BS propaganda that is propogated throughout television and such. Think about what prescription drugs are available: percocet, morphine, methadone, oxycontin, and more. What the Hell makes these drugs any better for you than illegal ones? Nothing. However, if you utilize them as directed by a physician, then they aren't going to do you significant long term damage. It's the abuse of the drugs that causes the problem.
