Weighted dips... How much do you use?
Just curious... I did this for the first time yesterday as part of my chest routine... Did it at the end of my workout. Only used a quarter!

Weighted Dips are great!! I do them for every chest workout. I normally use +45. Sometimes I use +90 but I do them early in my program (1st or 2nd exercise)

I was using a 45lb plate at my old gym. My new gym does not have one of those handy belt clips, so I just do plain ol' dips. Needless to say I can do a hell of a lot more dips without a 45 plate handing fron my waist.

I use a quarter for 3 sets, but I do tricep dips if it makes a difference.

I don't have a Belt Clip as well. I usually just hook a dumbell in my feet usually 35-40lbs It is a little awkward though

Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.

What is the correct way to do a dip. I always see people doing them differently. I weigh alot, so i doubt i could even do them.

Elbows in, torso upright to target the triceps. Elbows flared out, torso leaning in to hit the chest more. For tripceps, don't lockout at the top to keep the tension on them.

Dips are a staple for me in my routine, I mostly use them for my tris, since I have had bouts with tendinitis and I can't do exercises like skull crushers or pushdowns, but for some reason I can do pressing exercises without pain? , but anyway, I worked my way up to +90 for 2 sets of about 6. My goal when started was to do +100, but I think I will be able to pass that pretty soon, so I think my new goal to shoot for will be 3 45s on the dip belt. Lofty goal I know, but very attainable I think
On a side note, it's pretty funny to have 2 45s strapped to your waist, kind of makes you look funny and you get a lot of looks from the other people in the gym since I don't think I have ever personally seen anyone dip as much as I do....

I can do 80x6 after some bench work. Then I usually drop it to 70x6-8 for 2 more sets
And yes people do look at me funny or stare, I think it's because I'm only 18 and weigh about 170 yet strapping on a 45+35. That, and I think I'm one of like 3 people in my gym who does weighted dips. Everyone else is missing out, truely one of my favorites.

yeah, i really felt them, and i'll be doing them regularly now... Next time, i'll try them at the beginning of my routine...or earlier... and see how i do. I figure i'm good for at least a 3x45x6. It does look odd though, but oh well...not my concern!

I hear weighted dips will knock your unweighted dip up to an insane amount of reps
