This isnt a training question but I figure anyone who trains should know the fundamentals on what they are actually doing.
In health I remember a slide of a breakdown of a muscle, I cant find it in my book though. Its like a fiber surrounded by something that doesnt touch. Like this

So what breaks down, and what actually "rebuilds". If anyone could point me to a good explanation with pictures and stuff it would be great.
