    military presses

at my gym i see ALOT of guys doing military presses and they bring the bar down to about thier forhead ..maybe a little lower.. but no lower than their neck..
i myself bring the BB down to my collar bone area..until it touches and then press up. which is correct.
and is it neccesary to have your back RIGHT UP against the bench or can it be off of it a little.

You bring it down to where you can...if you have had previous shoulder injury of some sort you may not be able to bring the bar as low as most but normally you would want your elbows to go below parallel.

As for the back yes keep everything into the bench...if you come off of it your only cheating yourself!

I prefer standing up aswell. I never felt comfortable sitting down. Personally I think its all preference.

I like standing up. I think it is safer than seated because it feels like you have more control over the bar and could let go of the bar and let it fall if you have to.
