Stretching is very important. It improves your range of motion, improves your posture, and prevents injury, among other things. Make sure you warm up first, because stretching cold muscles can cause injury.

Yes, if I stretch it will be after my work-out, not before.

I thought that stretching before a workout was the best way to go to prevent injuries while training.

I do a 5-minute elliptical warm up. I have been stretching first but maybe I should do it after the warm up and then hit the weights?? Sounds like a solid new plan to me.

I have heard that stretching after is good also. Crap there’s to many different ways to go!

I agree, but must admit I rairly stretch after either, I do a good warmup and stretch a little in between sets but never before a workout.

Cool

i have been doing a 10min warm up on the eliptical to get my heart rate up and blood flowing then my workout and stretching afterwards it was hard to get into at first but now i feel good after a stretch and i think i dont hurt as much. I just wish it wasnt that important cause it takes a bit of time.

here is some food for thought, how long do you spend in the gym? in all that time you lift rest and wait to lift again, if each set takes you 30 secs and you are in the gym for a hour and you do 5 different sets how long is your work out. look at all the time you are wasting, what says that stretching is not good for you? It keeps fresh blood in muscles and it will keep mind-muscle connection....besides it will help you focus not flap your lips....

Stretching has been shown to limit strength when done prior to resistance training.

I incorporate static and PNF stretching after cardio...about 10-15 minutes everyday.
