Im torn between "its obnoxious" and "I dont care".

It is obnoxious, I dont do it myself and get annoyed at people who do.

But, I pay them very little mind, as all theyre doing is looking for attention. The music is already too loud.

Ill vote #2 because I dont like people slamming weights, as it eventually breaks the DBs. Thats not cool.

It's bad, but not as bad as the guy who was on his cell phone during his set of push downs.

I grunt and yell when I need to, I don't mind a bit when other people do it. The guys who are doing heavy shrugs and then, rather than dropping them they put extra effort into throwing them down, that I do hate. Some of the DBs at my gym are so bent that they can't even go back on the rack.

I'll never understand that!!! the last thing I want to do while im at the gym is talk on the phone I understand that some people need there cell's on them all the time but...I go the gym not only to train but to take my mind off everyday outside stress,it doesn't really bother me unless I want to use the bench there sitting on and talking on the phone

Grunting, groaning, cursing and the occasional loss of control of the dumbell - fine...
I just cringe at the wankers who do it for show.

There was the fattest man I've ever seen in the locker room the other day, right inside the entrance, butt ass naked, legs spread for some reason, on his cell. And he wasn't trying to cut the conversation short.

    Me too.
I hate cell phones in the gym, they shoud outlaw them.

For me the hour I spend in the gym is mine and I do not want to share it with anyone on the phone.

Throwing the weights down annoyes the crap out of me. The other day a guy was doing ez curls and just dropped the bar (70 lbs) when he was done.
I belive in respecting the equipment and take care off it like it was my own.

You mentioned this in another thread... Did it happen again or was the event so traumatic that the image is seared into your memories?

I like picking up a 150 LB dumbell and waiting for everything to turn around, then scream loud like I'm doing bent dumbell rows, and then letting it drop about 4 feet and slam against the floor. Makes me feel like a man.

i think its obnoxious but i also dont really care lol, sometimes when ive pushed my self hard i cant lower the dumbells i have to let them drop but i usually allways make sure i lower weights to the ground. the other day a bloke pulls a plate of one of the bench press bar and launches it about a good 15-20feet just to get it out of his way, he didnt look like he was having bad day or anything, i think he was just an arshole who thinks it is big to do so

The part that makes me think it's obnoxious is that I know it's done for attention. But I honestly don't care. I laugh and crank up the volume on my ipod.

When Im doing deads I drop the bar and I dont give a shit if people think its annoying. They can go back to their little cardio section, get on a treadmill, set it at .5mph and talk on their cell phones.

Deads, shrugs, bb rows, and when I rack it on squats are the times I tend to 'slam' the weights. I try not to on other exercises to much, but after those last few reps you just want to get rid of that weight.

I voted turn up your headphones.

There hace been times when the only way I could lift was to use a headset and handle business as I lifted. Elsewise I'da had to go in to the office. But I made sure I kept the ringer off so as to be uniobtrusive as I did it. I was not about to lose money while I lifted.

Very seldom do I have to drop the steel. Sometimes I am too fried and drop something but very rarely. I am always respectful of the people around me ... I get pissed if they disrespect me or my time. I always clean up my own mess. I don't spit in the drinking fountain. I don't stare at women's bodies or make lewd intrusions on their time.

Well that can be forgiven, but I still hate people who gab on the cellphone at the gym. At least you were still liftin and not strutting around make noise. Last week I saw some fat business guy gabbing on the phone, telling them all about his ex-wife screwing some guy, the divorce, and how he got the house, the car, etc.. talking loud, like he thought he was impressing everyone. He sat down on the bench next to me and I looked at him and asked him if he would like his cellphone shoved up his fat ass. Then he hustled right out of the gym.

i drop the bar with a little bit of control on deads (i see no point in wasting energy letting it down slowly). sometimes when i have no rack to work with and i need to do standing OH presses i don't feel like slowly letting the weight come down i'll just drop it. i could care less about drawing attention though, i try and keep to myself in the gym otherwise you get assholes talking to you for 10 min between/during your sets.

like it makes me feel really big when i'm doing an intense workout.........
its really great now bc im the only hot buff girl with muscles that knows what their doing with the weights, all the other women stay in the ladies section of the gym or on the cardio equipment. anyway, so theres a law school across the street from the gym and they all get a free membership.... so its like i have an audience everytime i workout or i feel like i do, ......... I slam the weights when im doing squats or something and a 45 will already be on there, and Im sweating profusely, i have to walk around to find a 10lb plate in the disorganized gym. i slam 1 on each side get under the bar and do the reps.....and look for 2 more 10lbplates,.........
