How long does it usually take to see gains/improvements

I just started lifting about 2 weeks ago and i already posted my diet and workout in this thread here.

New to this site and training, need some feedback

Notice the training routine i posted. I made some changes in my workout but i couldnt edit my post. So i added a few exercises such as cable rows for my back, straight-legged deadlifts and good mornings for my legs as well as changing the sets. So almost all of the exercises are 3 x 6-8 and not 2. I also workout every other day rotating between the 3 workouts.

Now, about 2 weeks ago i weighed 155 pounds. I now weigh 170 as i have been eating a LOT 4-5 meals a day which is about 3200-4000 calories (maybe more). I have been training heavily and drinking lots of water as well as having 100% whey protein and creatine.

How long will it take until i see results and gains? How will I know if my muscles are getting bigger and what should i be looking for? I heard it takes about 6 months-1 year to see mass gains. If i dont see any changes after 1 month should i continue my routine or am i supposed to try something different?

    Thanks

    -Rich

15 pound gain in 2 weeks...that is alot.

As far as you knowing when you are making gains...pay attention to your body. You will feel different muscle groups firming up (and growing).
Grab a tape measure to record you progress as well. That is probably the best way to track your progression.

I'm confused...you've gained 15 pounds in two weeks, but you're not seeing gains in mass??? Did you NOT gain any LBM in that 15 pounds? If so, you changed your diet too drastically and way too quickly.

If you can't see 15 pounds in 2 weeks you need to get your eyes looked at.

Seriously though, that is insane. I have to imagine most of that is fat and water. Not healthy.

I would suggest spreading that out to 6 meals, not 4. 5 is not terrible but for you to be eating as much as I do and you weigh 80 pounds less, you should spread those out. I take in 3900 calories on my "low cal" days, 6 meals. Thats all good food no donuts and such.

I changed my diet and routine around mid november. I was overtraining doing the same thing every time and only working certain muscles. I didn't even do legs at all. I was also eating fast food and cookies etc and other shit. Since then I've gained about 7 pounds and look better than ever.

It really depends on how big of a difference you're looking for. I can see a difference in a months time, but 3 months I can notice a big difference. It's also relative to the person as well.

Yea seriously how could you not see 15 pounds, did it attach to the center of your lower back or something. I think some of the people who come to these boards are dillusional or something.

I think to see substantial gains in terms of your physique it would probably take 3+ months. Just my personal opinion. And a 15 lbs. weight-gain, regardless of whether its water, fat, or muscle---its going to be noticeable.

The best way to get your weight is in the morning. Do your thing and weight yourself in a empty stomach & naked.

those gains were fat. at your weight you shouldnt be eating any more than about 3400 calories a day more or less, unless you are very active.
