Awesome, Thats freak strength, one of the guys mentioned bullshit about Fred Phister but i failed to mention all his records are accessible on the web powerlift circuit, the guy was supposed to represent U.S.A. in the olympics but he died tragicaly, his sister lived near my father and asked him if i would be interested in buying some weights from his estate,i said yes and followed her to where they lived. Man i gotta tell ya,the house was built in 1640, had all the original interior, door spade, hand hammered iron latches, it was incredible. Any way, she took me through the house and upstairs to i guess the attic ( second floor) cuold not believe my eyes, there had to have been 1000#s of plates and equipment in this unshored,10 by 16' foot room,no windows, and less than 7' of ceiling space, and dingy. One lone hanging light bulb, soot on all the weights (from wood stove i guess) to know that this gifted guy spent his last days lifting there was unbelivablly sad. I bought most of them, the sister gave me a book about circus strongmen, hand colored photos, ya know, cyr and those guys. It was awesome, he was truly a special person with enormous strenghth. left this world a lonely man. (his sis told me about his life a little, just unreal) see ya, Bigbull

Are you starting your own gym? How long did it take for you to move all that weight? How much did she sell you all that stuff for? Thats a lot of stuff. I'm just really interested. Thanks.

I've seen my buddy glenn BP 315 for 3 reps with ease. He's 165lbs, eats like crap, and lifts once or twice a week spuratically.

I sqautted 315 for 14 reps a little over a month ago. Now I can't even come close. It happened out of nowhere.

    That's psychological, man.

There's no way your body will crank out all those reps and then all of a sudden you can't.
You're a funny guy, Sully, I like you. Dat's why I'm going to kill you lahst.

I think ALL freak strength issues are psychological

Definitely psychological, but probably not 100% psychological. Coulda been an ATP issue, diet, sickness, etc etc. Too many variables to nail it down.

Strength goes up and down all the time, tons of variables. As long as you work em hard, make em grow, thats what matters.

Strength definitely varies on multiple facets, but NOT being able to do it is the psychological part.

In other words, you can be the most positive person in the world, but that still won't will you into bench pressing 600lbs.

In his case, no amount of will is gonna make him squat 315x14 outta the blue. And conversely, it's all psychological that he can't do that, or near that, anymore.

I think we're both making the same point, but in different ways.

To augment your statement - maybe he physiologically can lift that. His muscles, with optimal fiber recruitment, can move that weight. However, since then, his focus/intensity/ATP/diet/health might have been off, keeping him from moving that weight again.

But yea, of course, if your muscles cant handle the weight, your mind cant move it for you.
