For me, I was working out with a 2 day split, then a 3 day split. Workouts were almost 2 hours. I was stubborn and would not change my ways or try other splits. Then I started to loose my motivation and intensity. I slowly evolved to keeping my workouts under 60 minutes and each body part only once a week. I also, have been working out with P/RR/S and this keeps the workouts from week to week changing (for me in a 4 week cycle). So I do not really repeat a workout for 4 weeks. I have to keep refering to my WO log to know what exercise is next and the wts/reps. I am not bored and have 2 days of rest a week. Although it really has not worked for me in the past, some folks will take a week off every few months to repair and re-energize.

On a more spiritual note, I workout in the evening and I workout alone. So I also use the time to reflect on the days accomplishments and end the day doing something good for me. I end the day in a positive way (for me).
If you always have a great day, you will always have a great life.

honestly its all about finding the right balance between being a BB'er and having a normal life. Unless you're competitive or w/e you need that balance, because you get burned out if you start going too hard at it. It took me many years to find a good balance between having a life and being a BB'er, but once you reach that point you're set.

All I need is for someone to notice my gains other then me. I mean, yeah, you really do need to want it yourself, but it's nice when your wife comes up out of no where, touchs my biceps and comments on how nice I"m progressing. *schwing* I'm working harder then ever the next few weeks.

    Cool Hi!

I try to change up my routine so I don't get bored as easily......but right now my motivation is my very first string bikini for this summer... It's not as revealing as you may think, but for me it will be a big step!!!! I also agree with Exordus...it does help when someone notices the changes that your body is making, I work out for ME, but it's always a bonus when I get a compliment! BILLIE

I totally relate. I never have a problem with motivation. I love lifting. Dieting (by that I mean eating to a plan) I don't love but I do it because I know it's the other half of the total picture. Even so, life, particularly as you progress beyond 30 (wife, house, pets, kids etc) has a habit of interrupting your goals. In a perfect BB world you could devote every second of the day to attaining your ultimate phsyique. In reality, we choose many things to fill our lives with and therefore balance and sacrifice play a part. I find it is sometimes inevitable that you will become distracted, but I have learnt it is how quickly you get back on track that matters.
What this means is that when we drop a ball and it falls to the ground, it wasn't the ball that moved (down to the ground), but the ground that moved (up to the ball)

Ok, i admit, i fell off the damn Bandwagon 2 weeks ago! I was going strong 2!!! ...losing 1 pound a week -- 5 total? i have 10-15lbs. more 2 lose... before working on the cut? I was doing Cardio, lightweights, Yoga, .....then i included Tai Bo and Pilates into my routine? I may have overloaded myself? And woke up to a Long 2 week vacation? LOL! Anyway, I Made out a whole new routine which does help when i go by a Daily Notebook 2 do...so to speak for that daily discipline i need! I just took a Long 2 week vacation, that's all? I plan to get Back on the Bandwagon again Today and Hang on for dear life!! LOL.

Ahhhhh ok. Yea, sounds like you overloaded yourself and got burnt out. It happens. I always encourage people to back off a bit and re-group when they are pushing themselves too hard. Now your commitment to change is self evident otherwise you wouldn't be here bearing your soul to us. I would encourage you to also look at some personal lifestyle changes if you haven't already.

One thing I strongly recomend is purging your home of all junk food. Anything on convenience (ie Chocolate, Chips, and snack foods of that sort). People have heard me state this time and time again but I swear by Oranges (they worked for me). After my Motorcycle accident I managed to put on an extra 35 pounds during my recovery. This was my own fault due mainly to poor eating habits. One thing I did to change was purge my home of junk food and kept a bag of oranges on hand. You see, oranges are not conventient to eat. You have to think about what you are doing (peeling it and such). It helps you keep your awareness of your snacking habits and, it's healthy as well.

Now there are plenty of diet experts and threads here that are far mor qualified than I to suggest a proper diet. This is just one little trick I learned that worked for me.

Ok, enough preaching. Let me wrap up with this...

You are beautify Missfit4all. You can do it! Keep the faith and remember, the whole process of training and weight loss is like a marathon. NOT like a sprint. The trick is to push yourself to the limits BUT pace yourself to the finish.

    thanks, I like that advice!
and sorry 2 hear about your Motorcycle accident! OUCH!!

Same with me, ...accident. (Car accident...5 thousand lbs. of steel, head on.) The repair from Broken Bone injuries is more than i ever bargained for? Instant Muscle loss!!! The docs said the muscle loss was going to slow down my Metabolism something fierce and to expect some serious weight gain!!! I laughed! and said, ME gain Weight? Never!! I have always been the Active slim & trim type who could eat anything i wanted? Problem i found....Broken bones and Muscle loss Makes U "less Active" and what u ate B4.....u may not be able 2 eat anymore? lol. 20 pounds later, i finally said, "OK...enough is enough"!! Me R ready 2 Build Muscle back... Me need Slim & trim again!!!

Man, I gotta rest my eyes. I did a tripple take when I read PreMeir was looking forward to wearing a bikini in Florida...... then realized it was Premiere (not PreMier).

These similar names can be so challenging for me sometimes.

As most of you know I don't have the greatest diet discipline, but I have all the discipline in the world when it comes to training. I started training when I was 12 years old, my dad bought a weight set for the basement. I started buying tons and tons of bodybuilding books and magazines, and really became addicted to working out ever since.

It's backwards in this case. Jumping off the wagon and getting your ass to workout and execise is good, jumping on the wagon and just going along for the ride is bad.
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
