Post I need to gain weight!

    Hello,
My name is Mike and I am one of those types of people who can eat everything in sight and not gain an ounce. I am a broke college student, and am lucky if I can eat everyday. I go to the gym 4 times a week for at least an hour. I am looking for some help for good diets that are loaded with carbs and calories, and maby some good drinks that would be good for me. I have had enough of bieng so damn skinny. People are always telling me how skinny I am. Well thanks for your time

You sound like a "ectomorph" body type, meaning you are naturally lean. The most important thing for you is calories. You need to be eating 6 times per day, forget about doing any cardio, and maybe drop your training down to 3 days per week. If you can afford a weight gain drink that would be helpful, if not good food will work just fine!

What do you currently eat, and how often?

a broke college student who is lucky to eat everyday huh? how abot eggs? they are pretty cheap and are good source of protein. there are alot of good foods that are not expensive but may take some preperation time. if you are really looking to gain weight you MUST eat and more than just sometimes. Like Prince said 6 times per day. It may be hard but save your pennies and buy some good food and you can do it.

    hey man,

I know where you're coming from... but i've been able to change my size with a relatively short period of time. When I graduated high school last May, i weighed in at just over 140 lbs, and today I weighed in at 163 lbs, pretty good gains for less than a year of hard work, especially for my metabolism.

There are a few key points which will dramatically change your gains in the weightroom.

    1. calories... eat as many as possible, us skinny guys tend to be more active, thus eatting up more calories. The more calories your body uses during other physical activities, the less it has to make gains from your lifting.

    2. make sure you are taking in a plentiful supply of protein and carbs. I was told to take in at least 1g of protein per lb. of body mass. With carbs, i was told to take in at least 2g per lb. of body mass.

    3. lift hard, make sure that you aren't skipping out on that last rep if you are going to failure, that's the big one.

there are many other factors that can help your gains, but as long as you are watching your diet, and lifting to your body's potential, your gains in the weightroom should be what your looking for. Stay focused, and don't give up, your results will be pleasing.
