    5 small Meals per day?

i am convinced, i read over and over by (a lot of you) and (a lot of fitness professionals) who firmly believe that eating "5 small meals per day" is the way to go while losing BF %?

Perhaps Strength Training/Body Building in general not sure about that one?

Anyway, I am so used to eating 3 Square meals a day (and 2 snacks) that i don't know where 2 begin? I would really like to give this a try...could someone please be so kind to share what has worked for you or lead me in the right direction? How much of what and what 2 include...i am lost?

    Stats:
    --Female
    --med. build
--Goal weight 130lbs. (15 to lose)
--BF %? (caliper is on way!)

    Thanks.

Well I'm pretty sure that the basic idea behind eating five smaller meals a day is that your metabolism will always be going, whereas with three meals a day, it stops and starts up again when you eat. I'm sure someone else will be able to explain it better and help point you in the right direction. Hope that helped.

I think it depends on what you'd call a "snack" and what you'd call a "meal".

For example: and apple and cottage cheese (and sometimes I add fish oil), some will call it a snack where as for me it's a meal.

I think (please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm no expert here either) as long as you're getting enoough macronutrients (protein, carbs, fat) every time you eat (5 times a day), you're fine.

    many thanks!

i was directed 2 Jodi's (much appreciated) Guide 2 Cutting, Bulking, & Maintenance and read the 5-6 Small meals section. I thank you 4 the direction...

-- Eat every 3 to 3 1/2 hrs. to help increase Metabolism (thanks! good start!!!)
--Each small meal contains 1. Protein 2. Veggies 3. Carbs & 4. Fat (yes, what u say!!)

Ok, it looks like i may need to start counting calories and know Daily protein intake in order 2 do this right? Then start dividing up the Protein? This is totally a new World 4 me....but worth a try?

Yes it's normal eating for bodybuilding and fitness. I eat 8 meals a day. Every 2 hours for me. all you need to worry about is getting protein, carbs, and fat at each meal. You may need to start by measuring and weighing your portions but before long you can eyeball it and it will be easy.
