    lower back pain & deadlifts

My question is about dead lifts and lower back pain. I had a four month lapse in my workout routine and am back in the gym four days a week. I am experiencing lower back tenderness since I started doing deadlifts with a bar. Should I lighten my bar until I get back to where I was before? Prior to my lapse I don’t recall pain so I’m wondering what has changed? Would more abdominal work help?

Yes, lighten up the load until you are back at full strength and best form.
Yes, developing more core strength is almost always a benefit.
You'll probably have to figure out what has changed. Just compare it to what you did before as best you can and maybe read up on a few more articles or have someone look at your form. A pler maybe.
