hahahahahahhahahhahahahahaha, comon man, of course you can!!!, do a 1000 crunches a day and you will grow the 6-pack of your dreams............................................ ................................what more evidence do you need man.....

I got in to a debate with someone over if you can reduce fat on your stomach area by doing ab exercises. Does any one have information that proves you can't do that?

that is pretty stupid that you aski us for evidence man, cant you just exlain it to him on your own, even the most "basic bodybuilder" knows........by the way your friend is an idiot..
Well if you've ever debated someone, they usually aren't too keen to take your word...![]()
This misconception is the exact reason I get sad when I see fat girls at my university's gym doing nothing but crunches and side bends.

Explain it like this.
When you do bicep curls, are you reducing fat from the front of your upper arms? When you do hyperextensions, are you reducing fat from your lower back?
If the answer is still yes then ........................
What this means is that when we drop a ball and it falls to the ground, it wasn't the ball that moved (down to the ground), but the ground that moved (up to the ball)
when you do ab excercises you build ab muscle, not burn ab fat.Originally Posted by ihateschoolmt
you need to do cardio, and have a clean diet to burn fat and chances are you are going to burn abdominal fat last.
unless ofcourse you use the phonomonal ab sculpting product that makes spot reduction possible......absolved!![]()

wow...if it was REALLY that simple, I would have it made! I'd have a six pack AND boobs...lmao....

And there ihateschoolmt, is your proof. If a woman's breast shrink when she loses fat, what exercise caused them to shrink?

If this girl is hot and you want to get with her, just agree with her and say something like, "you're probably right" and keep doing your thing and let her keep doing hers. No point in going back to the debate because she will continue to think spot reduction is possible. That's my advice.
Somewhat related: Am I right in saying that you guys don't think Absolved or LipoDerm-Ultra really work? Just curious.

just ask her to explain to you how she thinks that the body burns fat, I bet she cannot even explain in a logical (semi-scientific) way how this process takes place in the human body.
people just like to repeat crap that they hear, usually myths, or things that they take out of context and repeat it, or they repeat what they thought they heard...etc...

Ya, the wierd thing about it is she thinks it only works for abs.Originally Posted by Robert DiMaggio

lol, well maybe it is 'mind over matter' for her then!
it is really simple, the body burns fat as a whole, it does not choose a specific fat store and selectively use/burn it because you are training that area.
now it is true that we all store and lose fat in specific areas first and last, maybe that is her confusion.![]()
