what are you eating?
despite managing what I eat and walking at least ½ - 1 mile a day I am still about 35lbs too heavy for my liking. (215lbs as opposed to 180lbs)
"Ah, hello there. I'm the Doctor, or will be if this regeneration works out"
what are you eating?
and are you using resistance training?
Just walking might be too low impact to see noticable results; how long have you been doing this for? And post your diet.
The stickies should have the 'explaination' you are looking for. Start there then post questions.

So your saying your more concerned with what the SCALE says instead of the mirror? If your on this board you probably are or will be building more muscle, more muscle means more WEIGHT. AND, if your "only" walking a 1/2 to 1 mile a day that means that your only doing about 10-20 minutes of cardio at MOST if your going at a good pace...pick up the pace and go for more minutes and see what happens. Dont get stuck looking at the scale for a measure of your progress.
heh, not everyone here is gaining weight manOriginally Posted by BiggerNstronger
a lot of people are here dieting and doing weight loss too, its a board for everyone despite the quantity of threads on heavy lifting and gaining.
to answer your vague question, check out the diet and nutrition section, there are numerous threads on there concerning clean eating, the right kind of eating habbits for what you want, and all of that. 10-20 minutes of cardio is fine as well, anything over 30 minutes of cardio is overkill, go at a pace that gets you a good sweat but dont overdo it because it risks things like muscle loss at a certain point. read through as much as you can, and if you have any other questions and concerns, please feel free to post a thread in the diet and nutrition section about what you need to know for weight loss. (no matter what anyone says, diet is the biggest part of anything, gain and loss)
if you are still lost, the best way is to make a thread and ask for help in the diet and nutrition section. post your complete stats (height, weight, age, bodyfat% if you know it) and post what you haev been eating and when. that will get some good responses hopefully

walking half a mile?? you might as well be sitting down...Originally Posted by NewWelshMuscle
It's called cardio because you're supposed to get your heart rate up
you know breathing hard, getting out of the comfort zone, etc...
try jogging half a mile a day, and then walking another mile afterwards
heh, according to a scale at the end of last semester i was Stage I Obese. too bad its because i added a lot of muscle. dont worry about your weight, but rather what you look like. plus, walking 1/2 mile a day isnt worth much. run 2.5 miles and THEN you will see some benefits.
cutting sucks.
It`a all calories in versus calories out...........create a calorie deficit and you will lose weight.

i walk atleast 1 - 2 miles a day and its kind of a power walk, but tbh just doing that you wont se noticable results, try dooing some cardio sessions like running or rowing machine etc or hiit which there are a good ferw posts lurking about on that subject atm. also check your diet, dont cut down the amount of food you eat just make sure its healthy food and you hitting about 2000 cals a day, good water intake is allways a plus and make sure your training is suited for what you want, try resistance training and go for high reps. i recomend getting one of those step counter things kinda good fun, that will give you idea of how much walking you do, as per day you should be reaching around 10,000 steps my family just about managed that hitting maximum of 12,000 steps per day, where as i reach 24,000 steps a day on days i worked and around 15,000 on days i didnt work, i just enjoyed finding out how much i really did lol easily pleased i am
