    Train the skin for competition?

    Curious...

I know some guys shave and end up with all sorts of bumps. Is this because they can't shave right, or their skin isn't used to shaving? I'm competing in a month, do I need to "practice" shaving?

If you are not used to shaving you might experience shaving rash, the more frequently you shave an area the more the skin becomes used to it and the less likely it is to cause irritation... then again, I never shave my arms outside of contest but do before I pro tan and have never got a rash from it, guess it will depends on how sensitive your skin is.

Hmm... so I'm a month out, if I wanted to condition my skin, when should I start?

I dont get a rash on my arms or legs, the skin is 'tougher'. If i shave my chest, I break out there.. waxing too. I would just shave and see. I think I remember reading to shave the area twice a week.

I don't really want to shave more than I have to... so if a month out is too early, I'm ok with that. But if a month out is just right, I'd better grab the razor.

i'm gonna start shaving soon, not for competition just because the women prefer it (or the ones i've met do, not that i'm hairy at all, just want a smoother chest), you guys use a razor such as gillette? or just something like a remmington trimmer? i'm thinking bout shaving my upper arms too

if u are a hairy guy.. id say go over it with a buzzer, something like what the barbers use, to get most all the hair off and then bust out the razor to get all the stubble off. i think the reason why people get shaving rashes is because they use a razor on a dense patch of hair and the razor is more prone to pull the hair out along with shaving some hairs. id say start early do "condition" your skin to let it get used to it.
if all else fails use Nair, they even have Nair for men now.

Get busy and do it now if you want to avoid any possible rashes.

exfoliate a lot too!! Start exfoliating in the shower a few weeks before contest to get your skin nice and smooth so that shaving isn't a pain. it also makes the pro-tan go on nicer.

Ya know what I recommend you do. Fuck using a razor blade on the skin other than the face. I would recommend using an electric razor. Works wonders.

Oh yea and use the beard trimmer feature to remove the course/longer hairs that an electric razor wont cut...Then use the electric razor.

Ok guys, there's a lady in the house. "Exfoliate" is the removal of dead skin cells (helps make Skin Smooth) while using something abrasive to the skin. For Sensitive skin, a plain Wash cloth ~ works fine. Others use a Loofa sponge... u know, a rough looking sponge from the ocean type thing? (tis the saying "Loofa scrub"?) Note: Baby oil is a great way to Moisturize the skin.
