Not much you can do other than wear gloves. or use lighter weight![]()
Hi, everyone. I've been lifting for a few months. I'd rather ask about a recurring issue i've been having. I may grip the weight to hard, under 3 fingers i have these horrible calluses. They are actually kind of painful when i grip heavy weights. What should I do? Should i start wearing gloves or do something else? Thanks.

But i don't see many people wearing gloves? Doesn't it take away something?

It takes away the feeling of cold metal in your hands. Thats all.Originally Posted by AirCartman
Those caluses will get stronger. Dont use gloves just make your hands tougher.

True, plus it makes a bitch slap much more effective.

Grip the bar with care, and dont let it slip.

yeah you cant really help it, at first i was worried about it doing damaged to my hands but as i got used to lifting more and doing a proper split i found my hands got generally tougher skin around that area and i hold the dumbels and barbels better, you can wear gloves i just generally picked of the hard skin and and eventually i stoped noticing calluses developing
Mine seem to get bigger every week. Deadlifts own me.
just get some gloves, i still get em even wearing gloves but they aren't as bad as they used to be
or... suck it up pussy.. its just calluses.. they hurt? aww cry and go home

I bet you're just a little bitch, look at your avitar, you 12 yr old momma's boy

Wait till the fuckers rip off..... fun fun

Gloves make them worse, at least mine, I shave them down in the shower<yes with a razor blade. I honestly don't care that I have "man" hands as I am a man, the only reason I shave them down is to keep them from ripping and spilling blood all over.

i use batting gloves it works good. got to keep your hands soft for the ladies.
I love calluses . it's just part of weight lifting. give it time (couple of years) and you will love them too![]()

Just sand them down. Your hands will toughen up in time. Don't wear gloves. Gloves are for women.

Try gripping the bar more in the hooks of your fingers than in your palm so you aren't pressing into the soft tissue of your distal palm.
As far as callouses go, they get thicker and less painful the more you grip. Mine never hurt anymore. You have to develop that local epidermal adaptation to toughen your hands. Callouses are your friends.
Why in the hell did you resurrect a thread from 2005 to say that?
Damm..i didn't catch that lol
