planned one week layoff during training

just curious as to how many people incorporate this into their routines or whether they do it because someone told them to or cause everyone else does it, or if you just don't do it at all and keep working out?

i do it only because it works out for me. I have exams twice a year, fasting month of ramadan, vacations etc. It doesnt work out to that many breaks. But its sufficient weather rest is required or not.

i was out the gym for a week recently due to a vacation...when i started back i was even stronger than b4...i think it was a good break for the body and im sure everyone that works out consistently(4=5 times a week) can use a week long break every couple months(you wont lose any strength)

I don't plan any breaks, but every so often things happen like getting sick or taking vacation, ect. that cause me to take some time off. You should have an option in that poll that says "Take a break, but not on a set schedule of time off." That's where I would fit in.

i dont exactly incorporate a spacific time to take a break but ive heard its good to go 12 weeks training 1-2 weeks off. but thats what i read somewhere...i usually just do 1 or 2 weeks off during the summer...vacation time...but come back stronger...dont think that you can take months off at a time with this tho as this wont work lol.

a break is also a good idea if you feel as though you are overtraining...giving your body time to recover and then hit the weights again.

I usually take a break every 8 weeks or so then change up my routine a bit. Usually the first couple weeks after a break feel great.

I don't plan my breaks. they just happen due to travel for work, fun, etc. I take many weeks off over the course of a year.
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

i don't plan them ahead of time, but I definitely take a week off when i feel like i need to recharge...and I always find that it's beneficial to my routine.

I just started HST, and as part of the program, you have to take 9 to 14 days off every 6 weeks. Seems like alot, but so far, so good.

I take a week off from lifting every few months. When I get back at it, I definitely feel recharged. My body just needs a break every now and then.
