Lol how long ago did this exposure to the sun ruin your skin? How do you get tan? You go tanning. Can your skin tan, well thats all in your genetics. If your real white you probably can only go under UV for short periods of time till you get a base.
I didn't know where to put this thread. I am very white and the last time I tried to get tan it messed up behind my shoulders and my neck and that skin is messed up with lots of freckles, how should I get tan or make my skin back to normal?

Different skin types can handle the sun differently.
We all have some Melanin in our skin to help protect us from the sun, but it does not
react the same to the sun. Your skin type (very white) may never react well with the
sun and you may always freckle. Almost all red heads have this type of skin and
many blondes. (my wife and daughter fit in this category) However, Hispanics, blacks
Philipino and southern europeans skin handles the sun very well.
You will probably need to resort to a tanning lotion if your skin is that sensative.
If you are adamant about a real sun tan, then try 10 to 15 minutes a day to see
if your skin will slowly get some color. Always use a sun screen though even if it
is a low spf. If you are not freckling, then you can gradually increase your time in
the sun.

if you are fair skinned the last thing you should be doing is tanning. you may want to go to the CDC's website and do some research on skin cancer.Originally Posted by Fashong

use only high pressure beds. Allot of them block out like 90% of UV rays and give
a better looking tan. I am in your same shoes but once I actually started going
tanning and got my skin broke in, i tan fairly easy now. Call around to your local
tanning salons and ask them what kinda beds they have.
Yep you have to do it gradually its ridicules to say cos you got fair hair you shouldnt tan.... I know loads of girls that are blonde and have good tans... (not lotion) you burn easier which means you must do it slowly if you control it and make sure you dont burn you will be ok. I mean get real what happens in the summer.Originally Posted by joesmooth20
Is there a way to help my skin go back to normal like the skin that I got burnt real bad behind my neck and shoulders. I got it like 1 year ago, I wanted to try and tan when I was at the beach and didn't put any sunscreen on and went out playing in the water.
In sea water if so the salt cystals magnify the suns rays which is a bad idea if your fair and have to control exposure..Originally Posted by Fashong
I am not sure about what you have got... go see a doctor (you know a proffesional, not a forum) of issues such as that.

I agree with Uzi9. Just because you're fair skinned doesn't mean you can't tan. Just take it very slowly.Originally Posted by Uzi9
You must keep one fact in mind: tanning will increase your risk of skin cancer.

I completly agree with this.Originally Posted by LAM

NO. I am saying, If you are fair skinned be careful and dont overdo it. Also be aware of the risks that you are taking and be ready to accept the consequences.Originally Posted by The_Man

Sunless tanning. Spray on tans now last upto a month. You'll look like you just got back from the Virgin Islands with no burn or cancer. lol

I don't want to be that dark spray on tans get you real dark.
Just use tanning lotion. I use the stuff and it works pretty well. Pain in the ass to put on, but it gets the job done. But if you do decide to use lotion, make sure you put it on correctly. (Follow what the directions on the back of the bottle say). If it says wash your hands after use, you better wash your damn hands because I didn't one time and ended up having orange hands for a good 4-5 days.![]()
