    Help Me I'm Stupid!

Ok call me stupid. I just recieved a pair of apt wrist straps 22" long. I've never used them before and because of lifting at home have never seen anyone else use them. You got it no instructions on how to use them and I can't figure it out. I look it up on the internet and one said to place you hand through the hole at the end and then wrap around the bar. Hey the hole is small. Hell my little dickey wouldn't even fit through this hole. So help how do you use them?

Take one end and put it through the loop end, resulting in a much larger loop. It's that larger loop that you put your hand through, similiar to wearing a bracelet. Now snug the strap around your wrist by pulling on the straight end. If you hold your hands out in front of you, the straight end will hang straight down.

The straight end is what gets wrapped around the bar.

Got you. But do you start the wrap on the bar from the top of the bar or start it on the bottom side of the bar. I noticed you can do it both ways. For example starting it on the bottom. You would roll it up like giving gas to a motorcycle. if you start it on top your hand would be rolling forward.

I haven't gotten straps yet, but I'll probably find this thread useful as well, I have no clue how to use them either. Do you wrap the straps around the bar or what?

    ok here goes...

now, put your left palm to the bar with the strap under it. use your right hand to wrap the strap under and away from you then over and toward yourself, then repeat. you should get two full wraps. but do it lightly. then, do your right hand, using your left thumb and index finger to help wrap like you did the left side. then, grab the ends with your thumbs and index fingers. slide your hands to where you want them. pull hard with your thumb and index finger until the straps are tight and your palm is up against the bar. grip over the strap and youre good to go. let me know if that doesnt make sense

Should diag 3 look like this? ie to indicate that the open part of the strap sits across your palm in the direction of your pinky. Diag 3 has you looking at your palms right?

What this means is that when we drop a ball and it falls to the ground, it wasn't the ball that moved (down to the ground), but the ground that moved (up to the ball)

So you don't actually wrap the clothe around the bar, you just grip it?

    Excellent pictures, DD!

After the straps have been wrapped around the bar (2-3 times depending on the length of the strap), you grab the part of the bar where the strap is. Thus the hands grip the strap around the bar. Your hands won't slip holding on to the cloth (as opposed to trying to hold the bar if your hands start sweating).

Wrapping one direction wont hold the bar at all, the other does. Make sense?

hahaha I can understand that though you have to admit DD's artwork is pretty spectacular. Actually, it's real easy once you know, like everything, just hard to articulate without actually being able to show you.

I think I understand if you are using an alternative grip so 1 palm over, 1 palm under the bar you wrap the strap around the bar in the opposite direction which gives you better grip.

This is by far my best post. Mudge I don't get yours either. As for the drawing, Walt Disney had nothing on you. I'm looking for a tatoo. Think I'll hire you as your artwork is so superior to anything i've ever seen.
Now get back in the fuuuuccking gym where you belong. Hell my 3 yr old grand daughter"s art work is better.
No really I get your drawing, Thanks for explaining.
Mudge I did find out today that I guess i did it wrong. I wrapped them over the top and almost dropped the weight on my feet when it slipped from my hands

Hey Indian larry, you build some badass bikes.

Straps help you hold on to weight that you're grip would normally give out on.
