Shrugs- Head up or down?

When performing Shrugs, are we suppose to keep our head down or keep them up and look straight throughout? Which is more effective?

Also according to your experience, how much stress does SLDL affect your Traps/rhomboids? Is it OK to do them just 1-2 days before direct Back training?

Keep on going...

Your head should be kept so that you are looking straight ahead. I see some people lower their head so that it will look like their traps are working. Talk about getting no benefit from an exercise.

SLDL's are primarily for the hamstrings, although the lower back also gets hit. I think that your back workout will suffer if you try to do it the day after legs. I keep leg and back day separated by 3 days.

I donk know if this works for traps, but when doing DB presses if you have your head down you run the risk of hurting your kneck. I know because i've done it twice. I would assume the same is true for shruggs.

For shrugs the head should only be lowerd slightly for more isolation.

The harder you try the tougher you will be!

The body is a great but complicated tool and the beautiful part is that you need to see what works for you.
the position of your head makes little differance when adjusted minorly.keep goog form in your lifting do not jerk keep smoth and see what head position works best for you
